Feature request: Since upvote and downvote are asynchronous, could what number your vote is display?
Dear Woot technical staff,
Since the upvote and downvote operations will usually occur well after the page has rendered, and are definitely asynchronous, I think it could be rather helpful to have a small, no-frills display (maybe just by setting an alt, or title attribute or other hoverable data) of what number vote the user's actually was. For those that understand the leaderboard mechanics, it may make a difference in whether they wish to leave it in place or rescind it.
I suppose if the update mechanics were sufficiently predictable that you could give us an idea of where our vote stands in relation to the newly displayed value, that would do the trick too.
Thanks.
That made my head hurt.
Voting should be about whether it's a good deal (or good question / comment) or not, not whether you can gain rep from it.
@lordebon: By that reasoning there shouldn't be a leaderboard, meters, or a coaching mechanism associated with that. I don't really agree with it being the way it is either, but if it's being put forward as a game to be played, this would be consistent with that end.
@xdavex: I had to make a couple of dictionary visits myself.
