No real brand, but I do prefer only egyptian cotton 400 thread count or higher.

The Costco by mean has 400 thread count sheets in a variety of colors. I bought some for myself and they are wonderfully soft. If you are a Costco member you could try them.

I buy the Walmart brand. I don't think that is what you are looking for.

@sgoman5674: Not unless they are as soft as the Egyptian Cotton 400 thread count sheets that I can't get anymore. When camping, traveling, etc. I'm easy going. However, at home I'm adverse to sleeping on anything reminiscent of sandpaper.

@catbertthegreat: Thanks, I'm not sure why I haven't tried those (my house is well stocked by Costco).

I will say I don't link Pima Cotton, it isn't soft at all. If that helps.

Ebay is your friend. A few years ago I bought 800 TC Egyptian cotton sheet sets (shipped from Egypt) for a reasonable price. They are wonderful, comfortable, and I love them!

@glindagw: I'm really glad you asked this. I'd purchased pillow cases from BB&B last year, and been very disappointed in them (they're in the IRONING right now, which is nearly a death sentence in my world). I'll have to go visit Costco next week and see what they have.

@catbertthegreat: Thanks for reminding me that I had a Costco membership, and that it would be useful to go visit them.

@faughtey: Any idea who the seller was (probably not after years...sorry). I like the idea, but I don't really want to fly blind on this one.

@shrdlu: Me too. I assumed that someone would have a favorite from Amazon, BB&B, or something. It's nice to know that I can return the sheets to Costco if I don't like them. I'm still curious to see if I get any other responses.

Around Thanksgiving '07 I purchased a set of sheets just to have a spare set, and they turned out to be my favorite sheets to date.

I would never have thought that 300 thread count would be as soft as these are. I don't wash things when I buy them new (probably a bad practice), and these felt great right from the start. As you'd expect, they're softer with every wash.

I purchased the "Deep Taupe" for a Queen at $26.99 + $2.95 shipping on the whole order back then. The page says $39.99 now, but I'd buy them again in a heartbeat! In fact I'm going to sign up now to be notified when the come back in stock. fingers crossed

Hope that helps!

@perkalicious11: Great colors. Thanks, I just added my name to the list as well.

@glindagw: After posting, I went on Ebay to find the seller. Sorry, I just don't remember which one it was.

@faughtey: Thank you for trying. I appreciate the effort.

I've always had great luck with any linens made by Crate and Barrel.

I buy my sheets at Sam's Club. 100% cotton sateen. I think they are 450 thread count, if not, then it's 400 thread count. The brand name on the pkg. is Christy. They last for years, colors stay bright and they do not pill. About $40 for a full size set, which comes with 2 pillowcases.
