Aliens was the best IMO.
Lots of tense scenes and wondering when they are going to pop out and attack was nice. The end battle with Ripley in the mech suit and the queen. One of the best movie fights ever.
"Get away from her you B*H!" One of the best lines too.

The first one, though the girl I saw it with has much to do with it.

I agree with @wickedd365 that Aliens (Alien 2) was the best of the series. The first seemed low budge, the second was awesome. Then the third was the worst.

I bought the one with the extended scenes and saw Ripley talking to her daughter who is much older than she is (the daughter is actually Sigourney Weaver's mother in real life). You also see a scene where they found the same alien ship as in #1 which was cut in the theatrical release. They setup machine guns in the halls when they sealed themselves in the building.

Some memorable quotes:
Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No. Have you?

Ripley: Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training.
Ripley to Newt: Right?
Hudson: Why don't you put her in charge?

Hudson: That's it man, game over man, game over! What the [sensored] are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?

Aliens, definitely. I consider Alien a decent horror flick and Aliens an awesome action flick. Also, if you are a gamer, Aliens is second only to The Princess Bride for a list of indispensable quotes.

Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

I love all of them but I would have to say "Aliens" is my favorite for reasons listed above.

I really wish they would make another awesome Aliens movie...If your into comics try The Earth War series (was suppose to follow up after the second movie before David Fincher went off on a tangent in the 3rd) and my personal favorite - Berserker.

first, i think we should be clear, that true fans should only recognize the first three films as part of the saga. Resurrection and all the AVP movies were an embarrassment and should stop being made until someone with some vision can get his hands on the franchise. having said that, this is a hard choice for me. Alien, was my very first R rated horror movie and i was probably between 10 or 12 when i saw it, so it scared the absolute bejesus out of me. so for those reasons, i have a soft spot for Alien. But Aliens was much faster paced and more entertaining, so i may have to go with Aliens. i don't hate the third one as much as other people, but it is definitely my least favorite.

There were no other movies. Aliens was the only one.

Agree with the others, Aliens is by far the best!

@ndcouch: Thank you. that's the same way I look at the series. 1-3 were awesome. 3 was kinda lame but still good.
Resurrection is garbage and the AVP series ruined both franchises IMO.

Aliens...no question is the best in the series. One of the best Sci-fi action flicks also. Two words...COLONIAL MARINES! After Terminator this has some of the best quotes ever!

I was 12 when Alien came out..Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto...amazing what a good cast can do. Still one of my favorite movies. I remember readling Starlog for months before it was released. Scared the poo out of me (in a good way). Compared to the CGI of today it was all about the acting not the setting.

Alien 3 was just...strange? From the researchers, the prisoners, the android, and of course "SUPER SIGOURNEY"...It was ok..but it definetly took the canon farther out there..Watched it many times..so...it's still good...just strange...

@wickedd365: i agree about AVP ruining both franchises. those are by far my two favorite sci fi/thriller movies, but the combination was terrible. when i first heard about it i had to change my pants i was so happy. then after seeing it i felt terribly depressed that they ruined both franchises. I may catch some flak for saying this, but i was very impressed with what JJ Abrams did to the Star Wars franchise, and wouldn't mind seeing him take a crack at an Alien movie. One of the reasons i like Abrams, is that he does a good job of combining CGI with actual camera tricks and effects so its harder to tell when you are watching good effects or just CGI. i hate when the CGI is so over the top it takes you out of the story. i'm sure i'll catch crap for praising Abrams new Star Trek, but i don't really care who it is, i just want someone with some talent to pump some life back into my favorite sci fi/horror movies.

Aliens (2) was the best all around. Very slick production.

@ndcouch: I agree. I too love J.J. Abrams stuff. Everything except Lost, just never could get into it. MI:3, Super 8, Cloverfield. All great.

I really enjoy the newest Star Trek and excited to see the new one.
