What is your favourite potato chip flavour? (crisps for those from across the pond)
As I sat staring at this small complimentary bag of All Dressed Ruffles that was offered with my sub, I got to wondering what interesting flavours I've been missing all these years.
I have several go-to flavours that always hit the spot for me... My current top pick would be buffalo wings and blue cheese chips (from President's Choice), followed closely by most any Ketchup or All Dressed chips. Honourable mentions go to Salt 'n' Vinegar, Sour Cream and Onion (or ... and Bacon), and Jalapeño.
Chips that don't really do it for me: cracked black pepper and lime, pickle (yes, I know pickle chips are good and popular - I just don't like them enough), plain, mustard, hotdog (yes, I tried them and they tasted a bit like a loaded ballpark frank, but not enough)...
What do you like? Have you any other exciting flavours for me to look for?
[Bonus question: Any preference between flat or ripple chips? I personally tend to enjoy the sturdiness of ripple, but like the lightness of flats]

This question from a few months ago is about brands, but there are also a lot of flavors mentioned as well. I like Ruffles Chili Cheese Fries myself.
Hawaiian Sweet Maui Onion kettle chips
(my answer still hasn't changed - see link above)
Poore Brothers' Jalapeno, Habanero, and Salt and Vinegar. Of the national brands I like Lay's Classic best. Walkers makes a good chip, er crisp, as well.
Ketchup by Herr's. They can be pretty tough to find sometimes.
Pickle flavored chips are really good.
Flat chips taste different to me than the ruffled. Favorite flavor is Sour Cream. I try to purchase low fat, low sodium, so basically none of them tastes as good as I would prefer.
I go back and forth. I like cheetos sometimes- both puffed, curled, and crunchy. Sour cream and onion is my standby. BBQ- but have to be thin. Ruffled ones I like cheese and sour cream..I guess I'm just not a real decisive girl :-)
I prefer plain chips, with tasty dips. :)
Chili cheese fritos. They are getting harder and harder to find around here.
I'm fairly sure they're regional, but Utz Red Hot chips are the best chips ever. Very highly recommend you grab a bag if you ever see them.
Barbeque!
I'm partial to salt & vinegar - especially if I'm eating chips with a sandwich.
@potter412: I would agree on Ketchup chips but I prefer Old Dutch
I also like Onion & Garlic
BBQ, salt and vinegar, sour cream and chive, and crab chips.
@potter412: Ketchup chips are awesome. I've never been able to find them locally, but always pick up a few Herr's when visiting family in WI. Last week I was at a local Hy-Vee and they had a huge display of them. Happy days!
Jimmy John's Salt and Vinegar chips. Other brands don't seem quite the same.
Salt and vinegar with things like Sour cream and onion and BBQ after that. Canada seems to have some really oddball flavors though. General Tao's, sweet and sour and catchup flavors come to mind....sounds like the OP is from Canada since they mentioned Presidents Choice, Canadian Superstore!!!!!
@jjeff: OP also used the Canadian / British spelling of "flavor", so you're likely write on expecting them to be Canadian themselves.
@lparsons42:
Actually I live in MN but visit TB ON every year where I shop at the Canadian Superstore. Walmart has stolen some of the thunder of CS but coming from the states I like to shop at something we don't have and CS(along with Canadian Tire) fit the bill quite nicely. Oh and I'd "guess" from the wording that the OP might be from PQ but this is only a guess(I also caught the U in flavor and U in honorable). ;)
Lay's Carolina Tangy BBQ. I swear, I honestly think they put something in this flavor the makes you want to keep eating. I CANNOT stop. I can't even eat them one at a time.
@firebirdude:
MSG ;)
this is a stupid question, not unlike most others.
@jjeff: You would be correct. I am one of those colourful neighbours who comes from the North, eh! No doubt about it! And while I do speak French as well as English, I am not from Quebec... Ontarian here. And I do love how President's Choice experiments with odd flavours like General Tao, Spare Rib, Tandoori Chicken, or Piri Piri.
Thank you to everyone for your wonderful suggestions! I've added Hawaiian Sweet Maui Onion, Chilli Cheese, Habañero, and Carolina BBQ to my shopping list...

I will also go with salt & vinegar
OMG even before reading your reply I thought to myself all dressed ruffles! Oh how I miss those, last time I went back home to visit Canada I made sure to get some! Also lays ketchup chips FTW!
