Genius way to call out an official for missing a call. Looks like he got under his skin in a hurry! I dislike umpires sometimes, they can never admit when they're wrong and when someone calls them out on it they deal with it by ejecting them. I've heard of fans being ejected before, but never ballpark staff! Great find!

Minor League DJ Intern - something tells me it's not going to hurt the guy in the long run, but it is also hilarious. Thank you for finding this!

Derek Dye, the ejected intern, just got a huge resume enhancement.

"THAT IS AWESOME! THAT IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! WOW! That is so cool! That is unbelievable!"

How the hell can the umpire eject him? He's not even on the field... I thought the umpire only has control of the field and the people on it.

@rabidmonkeyoncrack: It's my understanding an umpire can eject any one and everyone in hte park including fans and organists if their behavior has a negative impact on the game.

@lavikinga: Who gets to eject the umpire then?

LOL! From Derek's twitter page:

If nothing else, I have a new pick-up line... "Hey, my name's Derek and I've been ejected from a pro baseball game." It's bulletproof.

@lavikinga: I believe you are correct. I know that in high school basketball a referee can point out a fan and have them removed if they are being too boisterous for his/her liking. :::whistles innocently:::

@inkycatz: A well-placed ball or flying bat should be sufficient...

On the story page, someone commented that the non-playing staff is not allowed to comment on the games and the umpires are allowed to eject any staff member who does.

If anyone has the rule book...

umpires have ordered hometeams to forfeit games if people in the stands go overboard. It's the home team's responsibility to control ALL the people in their park.
