I don't know why. But does it help to know you are not alone ? I have a mac btw and use safari, so I don't think it is your browser.

I'm using Firefox 22.0 and not experiencing any unusual slow down when trying to load Woot.com or the deals.woot pages. I also just tried it using IE 8 without and slow down.

For what it's worth, though, when doing a speed test here http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/ I get a download speed of 15.43 Mbps. My husband, sitting at his desk less than 10' from mine, regularly gets nearly double that speed. So perhaps I'm just so used to a slightly longer load time (but NOT 5 seconds worth!) that it doesn't seem slower than usual to me?

Contrary to my own wording, it's not that the page loads slowly, per se... everything literally freezes and then loads. :-(

It might not be the speed instead it could be Your ISP. I have trouble getting woot to load even when I have good speed in my connection. I have assumed that My ISP's connection to the internet is filtered and that woot is getting the short end of the stick, that and woot having an outdated online setup.

@rookie3001: Mine is better now. But I was getting black screen freeze while waiting for a page to load. Is that what you saw?
Tonight/this am is back to normal.

I have been having major issues the past few days. Really slow loading, and more often, never loading. I'm using Chrome and Safari. Every other site, opened simulatenously with woot, loads perfectly every time.

Have you tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in?

Same here, been having problems with the page loading the first time. Once I reload, it's good to go.

Someone has been messing with the Woot site. It used to be a cool idea but then Amazon got their hands on it and now they have hundreds of products for sale and the site doesn't load worth a damn anymore. It's that banner on the top of the page that causes firefox to freeze for a few seconds. Whatever server it tries to talk to is dog slow.

No, it's not my lappie (core i7, SSD, yadayada) nor my internet (50Mb/s down, 10+Mb/s up). It's the site. Glad I'm not the only one experiencing it. I guess the guys that code these sites aren't forced to actually -use- it from home every time they push out a new code base.

I just confirmed it is all of the extra scripts. I have had this problem consistently for months (since amazon took over mainly) on a number of different connections at home, work, hotels, etc. and the delay was always there. Turning noscript back on (plugin for firefox) and allowing only woot.com to load scripts, therefore blocking the ads, made it load much more quickly.
