from what i understand from previous research, the debrandings really mean nothing. they're identical to the actual branded products except for the logo which won't say "HP" for example. even the locations of the logos and the built-in grooves for the original logos are all there.
"Famous Maker" is a way for companies to save brand face. if i were telling a friend, i'd say what brand it really was and say they just covered the logos up. or say it's MADE by brand X and leave it at that

I just received my 23" debranded monitor. It has a black patch over the famous maker logo. Since the monitor is DOA, maybe that's why they were debranded. Also, the shipping carton was totally devoid of any documentation. So I've got a 23" monitor that would make a really bright night light at the moment. I'll give you a hint - the brand is an acronym that represents two names, one of which was the same as a car company that went out of business over 50 years ago. If anyone knows any magic tricks for waking this monitor from its brain dead state, let me know.

@beachbum107: that sucks. i forgot who was selling it, if it was woot on sellout.woot or if it was another company selling as a sponsored deal. you'd need to contact the company you paid for help and possibly shipping it back.

did you at least get a statement in the box with a company name?

It was on woot about 2 weeks ago. $129.99 with $5.00 shipping so I'm going back to woot for resolution.

Contacted woot - got info to FEDEX it back to them at their expense. They promise to credit my credit card within 7 - 10 days of receipt of the debranded 23" monitor. Guess this was one refurb that wasn't quite refurbed.

@beachbum107: that's good news. did they offer to send another or were they all out?

one suggestion to "wake it from its dead state" would be to see if it works on another computer or laptop besides the one you already tried. sometimes it's just a loose cable or resolution settings
