I'd say there are enough warning signs on the Icemonkey website to pretty much exclude them from consideration:

1. The Secure Site seals (Paypal and Authorize.net) on their website should be clickable, leading you to the details and confirmation page of the service - none of their seals are clickable.

2. Their "contact us" page does not include a phone number or address.

3. Their standard return policy indicates a restocking fee, but that fee is not specified as to an amount or percentage.

4. They do not have any comments or history on ResellerRatings.com.

I would suggest you alert your credit card company, the BBB, and post your experiences on ResellerRatings.com, including any followup from the vendor.

I handle credit card and check card disputes as part of my job at a large credit union. @durkzilla has it nailed: contact your credit card company now.

vote-for11vote-against

We have contacted the folks at icemonkey regarding this thread.
We should hear from them soon.

@dixiegarden357: Hello. Please send an email to sales@icemonkey.com - attention David. Send your order number and any information you have.

Thanks.

@icemonkey: Care to allay our fears or should we still consider your site hostile?

vote-for2vote-against

Thank you guys for raising some important points. We have taken appropriate steps in fixing the issues, you should be able to see the changes in the next 24 hours.

Changes Made:

- Updated our restocking fee
- Added the Paypal verification link
- Updated our contact information
-No one has posted a comment about us on ResellerRatings yet, it is therefore blank.

As for the customer service questions, we are committed to providing superior customer service. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

We want to handle your issues as soon as possible so please email us at sales@icemonkey.com with your questions.

For future reference there is usually a 12-24 hour turn around time for customer service during business hours.

We sincerely apologize for your frustrations!

vote-for11vote-against

@icemonkey: While you appear to have made some changes, I have to say they aren't for the better, necessarily.

In fact:
1. You appear to have simply deleted any reference to restocking fees.
Do you no longer charge any restocking fee?

2. The Paypal and Authorize.net seals are still not clickable.
This is really important. Nothing screams "I'm gonna rip you off"
louder than faking security certifications.

3. Your "contact us" page is now devoid of content.
This is also really important. Nothing screams "I'm gonna rip
you off and then disappear with your money" louder than providing
customers with no way to contact you in the event of a dispute.

vote-for3vote-against

Yeah, notify your credit card agency now.
Everything about this site screams "bogus."
From the lack of contact information, to the fake "verified" seals.

I ordered the headphones that were posted the other day. I received them yesterday in the mail. I paid with PayPal, and everything went fine. Had I seen this thread I would have avoided this like the plague, but my order went through as smoothly as any that I have ordered through Deals.Woot in the past.

The issues that were brought up by in this post have been resolved. We appreciate your feedback and insights.
Thanks Again!

A new Ice monkey issue-I ordered the Sansa Clip and now have my order-an empty package and no response to multiple emails. This is a first for us in over 200 separate online transactions. Hopefully David is still monitoring this thread.

@scott479: I've received an email stating the correct item has now been shipped.

vote-for2vote-against

I ordered an item from Icemonkey.com & it is defective. It doesn't function properly!!! I emailed them & they have yet to email me back. Plus, nowhere did it say the item was refurbished. I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known. Why don't they have a phone # listed? So disappointed in the company!!

vote-for0vote-against

Ellen, My experience was they are slow to answer-plus it's the weekend. For a phone look here: http://www.superpages.com/bp/Brooklyn-NY/Ice-Monkey-Discount-Cell-Phones-L2212804075.htm Eventually all my problems were taken care of by icemonkey.

vote-for1vote-against

I've had both positive and negative experiences with Ice Monkey. For the most part, they have been responsive and I have received items ordered, with the exception of a pair of binoculars which I ordered a month ago. I have since emailed them and have a reply stating that the item was returned and would I like the item reshipped? - I'm left wondering if they were just not going to say anything ....

vote-for2vote-against

Just got my microvideo camera- piece of junk actually rattles in the case, the installation software is literally in Chinese-even the file named "English" is in Chinese
enclosed booklet looks like it was created with Google Translate from Mandarin.
Nobody answering the phone either

vote-for2vote-against

icemonkey said they updated their contact info.
Well, that's a lie.
Still no contact phone in Contact US - just a send e-mail form; seems nobody answers e-mails sent to them

vote-for4vote-against

I have ordered a number of cameras from Icemonkey and I was sent wrong model numbers and wrong manuals for some of them. When I asked for a return authorization they have repeatedly sent response emails saying things like "this is so confusing." (I outlined in detail order numbers etc, model numbers). I was asked to scan the box label??? (I threw away the box since it was destroyed opening the package). Then I was asked to take pictures of all the cameras and send them the pictures. Is this an incredible waste of my time or what? It has been two weeks since I initiated my first email explaining the mis-shipment and I still don't have just a simple return authorization to return the wrong items they shipped me. If they would give me one they would see they sent me the wrong cameras. I have asked repeatedly for a phone call since they are so "confused" and have not received one even though they asked for my number. Any suggestions?

vote-for3vote-against

Placed an order with Icemonkey.com. I received a package in the mail from them but it didnt contain all the items I purchased. I emailed them and got a pretty quick response. Now they wnt me to send pics of the box and shipping label. Will let everyone know how it goes.
p.s- the phone # for icemonkey.com on my credit card is (718)604-2605

@ellen16: Same story here....nothing about refurbished products in the ad. No phone number. Replies to their email address were useless. The only way to make good is to put them out of business for good. Help me by posting lots of reviews everywhere...just tell people the truth, and it's pretty obvious how shady this business is, hiding the fact their stuff is damaged before they ship it. They "refurbished" lots of scratches on my product with a black pen, and I'm like are you for real? I'm not just put off, I'm truly amazed they're still in business, and are getting away with it.

Note: Whatever Ice Monkey responds with, is bull. They tricked us, took our money, and sent bunk merchandise. That's a fact. Emailing them is like asking someone stupid to speak. it would have cost them about $4 for them to resolve with me, but they'd rather try and weasel out of it.

vote-for2vote-against

@durkzilla: Yup, these people are still awful after that many months-- please nobody ever give Ice Monkey another cent, we want them to go out of business for good! There are so many good seller out there, find somewhere else that has what you need, and you'll be much happier and better off for it. (From an x-customer of theirs.) Thank you!

vote-for2vote-against

You can file a complaint with the New York Attorney General. I have found the Attorney General's office (in the appropriate state) to normally be very effective to get problems resolved.

The Federal Trade Commission is the best federal agency where you should file a complaint. They don't resolve individual complaints, but rather look for patterns with business that can lead to investigations and prosecution.

I believe the Attorney General's office is still the best place to help get individual complaints resolved.

vote-for0vote-against

I agree with everyone. IceMonkey really does suck. I placed an order for a coffee maker and a bread maker. So what do I receive? 2 coffee makers and no bread maker. And when I emailed them about it, I had to do the same as mentioned above - send pictures of both shipping labels. Not sure why I had to do this since I already gave them my order number.
But get this..... they wouldn't send me the bread maker until they received the second coffee maker back. It's like they punished me for THEIR mistake. I'll never place another order with them.
Plus, the customer rep (Melissa) would never answer my questions about what to expect in fixing this issue. VERY SKETCHY!!!

vote-for1vote-against

I made an order last night around 11pm. When they sent the confirmation at 11:02 I saw that I had put in the wrong ship to address (it was a gift). SO I emailed them back at 11:03, today at 10AM I got a email that its too late its already shipped. There is no phone number except the one people have posted but nobody answers, you get voice mail. The super-pages number is not there anymore.

vote-for1vote-against

Thank You Woot.com! I was almost tempted to get a refurbished IPAD! Thank goodness I read your posts!

vote-for1vote-against

I am also very glad I found this topic here, because I was so close to buying a refurbisehd iPad and iPhone 3GS. It's so unfortunate that ordering from Icemonkey is like "hit or miss". I would really want to buy stuff from them, but I just don't want to "miss". And as long as their customer service stays the same, I don't see why anyone should buy anything from them.

vote-for1vote-against

My experience with them has been this: Okay to buy retail package products. Not okay to buy "refurbished" products. Their version of refurbished and the general populace's idea of refurbished is miles apart.

vote-for1vote-against

Should add that, in all fairness, when you do bring up issues, the costumer service team tries to resolve it. Just more of a hassle than I usually deal with, though that might be because I've been utterly spoiled by Amazon.

vote-for0vote-against

I just received a mini bluetooth keyboard from them for my Android X phone. The product ID on the Order Receipt that came with it says:
"GEN-BTMINIKEYBOARD-BK-R". I can only assume the "-R" at the end stands for "REFURBISHED"......On their site it CLEARLY says that the product is "NEW".....DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!

vote-for0vote-against

Fortunately I have not opened the product and WILL contact my credit card company if they do not respond promptly

vote-for2vote-against

I order a "new" Iomega 1TB Home Network Hard Drive about 7 months ago. Present day, hard drive stops responding. The hard drive was checked by a technician. Found out the drive was only 500GB, NOT 1TB. Further inspection, the power cord was for an HP product. When I sent an email to customer service, they asked me why I hand't inspected the product sooner. Really? I should have been untrusting from the beginning? I would like to think that people could trust online retailers like this and not have to worry about whether or not they are getting scammed.I was also told that since my order is seven months old, there is nothing they can do to. I'm not surprised by this. If all the photos and family memories are lost on the hard drive, they're gone forever! Now I have to spend more money on a possible data recovery method just to see if I can retrieve the data. All because I was lied to - and it's my fault for not checking the product!! That's what cons do, blame the one who got conned.

vote-for0vote-against

They Still suck...bought some flatware that was so cheap it practically bent taking it out of the box. Spent 1/2 the cost of it to return it.

Then bought what was supposed to be a Stanley Airplane construction set...they shipped a different
Stanley set and I've sent pictures of the wrong item, and a couple emails and have yet to have the problem resolved...

BUYER BEWARE...STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE IN BROOKLYN WHO ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN STEALING YOUR MONEY IMO

vote-for1vote-against

I have ordered with Ice Monkey before without problem, but won't ever order again. My order was damaged in shipping and customer service has been unresponsive to my request for a replacement.

The details:
1/18 - Placed the order
1/24 - I reported receiving the item damaged during shipping and requested a replacement
1/25 - Melissa at IceMonkey.com responded requesting photo evidence of damage
1/25 - I replied with photo evidence
NO REPLY
1/30 - I sent follow-up email requesting assistance with a replacement
STILL NO REPLY after seven business days
2/3 - Sent another follow-up email requesting assistance with a replacement. Indicated that this was my last attempt and further lack of service would result in a chargeback on my credit card.
STILL NO REPLY. Dead silence since 1/25.
2/7 - Giving up and initiating a chargeback on my credit card and writing this review

I'm generally quite forgiving of mishaps but not ignoring the customer repeatedly. Terrible way to treat a (former)customer

Hello,

I too, have recently had issues, with IceMonkey.. I bought a large order, and items were missing in the box, delivered.. I used the "contact us" tab on their site, which went to "Sales@IceMonkey.com.".. I got Roland.. from IceMonkey, when explained that about $100.00 worth of merchandise was not shipped, in the box that I received. He asked me, to take photo's of the box, AND the items that I did receive, to place the items in the box, so he could see if the box was "large" enough for the add'l items, that were missing? Really?.. So, pictures were sent, and NO reply back.. it's been several days, and still no reply back from IceMonkey, and still no items, or my money refunded.. needless to say, I am disputing the charges on my credit card.. AND will NEVER EVER deal with this place again..!.. Something is "fishy" and unlawful what is going on, and they should be reported, (which I will fine an formal complaint) with the BBB, New York Attorney's office, and Federal Trade Comm.

vote-for0vote-against

Also, a friend of mine, ordered two binoculars, to receive, only (1) but the package states, (2).. She too, is filing formal complaints against this company.. I have ordered items before.. last year, and did not have any issues, with the items received or the quality of the items.. and was very happy with them.. but this last order, which was about $200.00, to only receive a few items, and be out $100.00 of my money, wrong, and unlawful..
To have their customer service, ask the customer to "prove" what they got, by taking photo's absurd!!.. LOL..!.. It's either send the items out that I paid for, or refund my money.. plain and simple..!.. RRRRRR!
Buyer beware.. Do not give this company your hard earned money.. they will "steal" it, and treat you like garbage..!..
Does anyone know whom owns this company, or any information, of an corporate office contact number or address?. Maybe, it's dishonest employees stealing from the company? LOL

I don't understand all of the negative comments. I placed an order with IceMonkey yesterday and had to cancel it a couple of hours later. I sent an email to them and, within hours, received a reply confirming cancellation, with no questions asked,. My money was back in PayPal and my bank within hours.
I'll order from them again!

vote-for1vote-against

I also ordered items from this site that were supposed to be new and were not. 2 Nook Color. Still had fingerprints from prior user on the item. Their label on the item, just like the ad said (NEW) yet it was placed over a refurbished item sticker that looked to be from the factory. Also have another item that says shipped, yet has not arrived. An email was sent early last week and the 24 to 48 hour time has now reached 6 days. Another email sent today. I can say that I wont be doing business with this group going forward.

vote-for1vote-against

I ordered on the 21st of number when should I receive the items?

vote-for1vote-against

I ordered an Ipad Friday 11/30 before seeing this thread. I was nervous, because status was listed as "processing" at 8am today, but the ipad was delivered fedex around noon today. It didn't say refurbished in the description, but I figured a 64 gig ipad2 for 379. probably was. I received a usb cord with an ac/dc adapter, and it charged with no problems.

vote-for0vote-against

12/22, I have order apple iphone 3gs factory recertified (UNLOCKED) 8GB. But have received a 2-Years USED AT&T locked will full of data filled in it. 280 mb free space out of 8GB, Filled with someone's personal details, their emails. rediculus. I have sent emails to them, have NO response. As per their policy, retrun product should retruned/recieved by them within 30 days from the invoice date. i am not sure, would i get a reply from them or not. WASTE OF MONEY in purchasing the products thru icemonky. I WOULD NEVER EVER DO THAT IN MY LIFE

vote-for0vote-against

@durkzilla: Had a problem after receiving a wrong item. They made me take a picture of it to prove I got the wrong item, then they didn't send the return label. I sent it back anyway and emailed them a week after the tracking number said it was delivered. They told me they had no record of this and to send the tracking number. I sent it and another week later passes and they again told me they have no record of this and to send the tracking number. This has been going on for about two months and had to open a Paypal dispute.

unbelievable - ordered something listed as NEW, and it arrived in a box labelled DISPLAY and missing major components.. only recourse is RMA. I wanted what i ordered.. NEW..
