They could clean it up a bit.....

@pamfenway: Yeah, Amazon can give you credits that are only good for certain categories (like Mp3, Instant video...). Those type of credits would only show up in their respective money totals. I totally understand the confusion though, it is a really awkwardly done aspect of their site.

@arevan: Every single other time I've looked at my balance for, say, mp3s, there is a balance ONLY in the mp3 category. NOT in every other category. Apparently, Amazon did credit us in the way you describe, but this is new to me. The $3 mp3 vouchers yesterday, for example, showed ONLY in the mp3 category.

How Amazon gift cards work:

If you have $5 in gift cards it will show up in each of Amazon's categories (Mp3, Instant Video, Game downloads...). So it shows something like this:

AMAZON GIFT CARD
$5.00
AMAZON
MP3
$5.00
AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO
$5.00
KINDLE
EDITIONS
$5.00
SOFTWARE/VIDEO
GAMES DOWNLOADS
$5.00

That unfortunately doesn't mean you have magically gotten $25 in your account. All that it means is that you can use your $5 on any of these products.

@segafanalways: Yikes! That IS worse! Much worse! Makes my $4 to $1 disappointment nothing at all!

vote-for3vote-against

@pamfenway: image how bummed I was a few weeks back when I received a $10 credit from them and it showed in all 4 categories just to find this information out later. That $40 awesome turned into a $10 bummer pretty quickly.

@missellienc: That's something else entirely. I think @segafanalways had it right. The credit we were allotted for having purchased the mp3 album was $1 only. However, when we checked our credits we saw $1 in each of the mp3, kindle, game & instant video downloads categories. This morning I purchased a .99 kindle book and now all of those categories are giving me 0.01 balance (excent mp3, where I have a 0.02 balance, from a previous 0.01 balance).

I'm glad I didn't purchase anything beyond that .99 book this morning.

@missellienc: Thanks. I would definitely call that "hidden"...but it works. Amazon could have a link for "my credits" under "my account" to make it easy.

$4 is there

@morriea: I may not use the quickest way but I select MP3 Downloads and click Go. Then I click on the 1st song title. On the right side of the page you'll see "Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance", click on that and your credits will appear.

You guys had me worried for a minute. I checked and I still have my $3.00 MP3 credit from the Amazon Local deal. I was afraid they had zapped my credits too.

vote-for4vote-against

OK...I have now decided that I am an idiot or Amazon is hiding the link to my credits. Will someone tell me WHERE to look an the site?

vote-for2vote-against

I still see the $1 credit in my account.

vote-for2vote-against

@segafanalways: Thanks for the heads-up. Seems pretty screwy, though. I mean, here we all were thinking we had a $1 credit in all 4 categories! I know I'm not the only one who must be wondering about this, 'cause there was a thread about this in the deal area yesterday.

vote-for6vote-against

@pamfenway: I have had this happen to me before. It shows $1 credit in all of the other categories but there is actually only $1 there it just can be used for 1 of those 4 categories. So if you used a $1 MP3 credit on a 99 cent song the credit would now show up as .01 in all of the categories. Hope this helps.

I didn't order one of those, but my Amazon GC is down to 0.01 now. Granted I only had like $2 in there or so but still.

@gideonfrost: Yes, they did. Not only did they add $1 to your mp3 account, but also to the game downloads, instant video downloads and kindle downloads. In other words, they gave us back $4 in credit in 4 areas. Only today, the amount is down from $1.00 to $0.01!

I thought they refunded the money from those sales.

From the amazon mp3 twitter account.

"BTW, If you ordered at $1.99, we will be issuing you the difference via email. No action required on your part. Rock on! #rockthegoldbox"
