Sometimes I like to get more information before upvoting/downvoting a deal, so I don't think it should automatically upvote it.

I might click "I want one" to get more information, realize it is a bad deal, and downvote it.

Nope. I click the "I want one" button on a LOT of deals, without ever buying or without even liking the product.

I wouldn't say so. The "I want one" can be used to get more information, which isn't something that should be inherently rewarded. Piquing curiosity and/ or being vague aren't terribly difficult.

If there was a way to link the button to an auto-upvote if purchased, then sure. But I feel like most community members are going to upvote something if they're buying it anyway, which would make such immensely complex coding unnecessary

Changing it now would be very confusing to the veterans.

Perhaps changing the button to "take me there" or something would be more intuitive. I must admit, I used to think that button did trigger a "vote" for you when I first showed up here.

"I Want One" button should not upvote a deal. Often times the deal description page leaves a lot to be desired and I have to click on "I Want One" to find out and read more. A lot of people do make an effort to make the description as relevant as possible but often times the description is left out with a vague heading/title.

What @sizzlestick and others have written applies to me as well.

Besides, I cannot think of any good reason why the I want one button SHOULD upvote a deal. It takes almost no time to actually upvote.

No, I often hit the I Want One button just to get more info.

No, unless we're also provided with a "give me more info" button that doesn't upvote. Most of the time the only way to get details about an item on offer is to hit the "want one" button - and most of the time I end up not buying. There's no reason me reading the specs should upvote something.
