Is there a tag glitch?

I haven't posted deals in a while, but the two I've posted today had some interesting numbers come up when I was selecting tags. "Pinkyandthebrain" showed up as a list of identical tags with varying numbers (in the thousands) for frequency of use. Cartoon showed up multiple times with thousands of uses. I did a search and found quite a few less items than that.

Maybe you're working on that glitch right now because tag suggestions aren't even coming up for this question. I can't think of who to invoke. @shawnmiller @josefresno ?

Earlier today I posted something with the tag "programmable" and got around 12,000 tags. Something's up.

It appears to be finding tags that have the word your searching for in the post, but not the tag. For instance, I just tried to tag "chronicles-of-narnia" and when I clicked on the top one (because naturally it found a list of them), it inserted "books" into the tag field. Looks like an enhancement for helping people figure out what tags to put on what items. However, they need to show what the system will put in, not the search terms you are typing.

It amazes me that there is somebody (or somebodies) whose job it is to edit these post titles and tags, yet they don't respond to the actual issue.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
