Which is longer, your ring finger or your index finger?
My ring finger is much longer than my index finger. I recently read that doctors believe finger length is affected by exposure to the amount of testosterone and estrogen in the womb. Longer ring fingers indicate greater prenatal exposure to testosterone, while longer index fingers suggest higher estrogen exposure. I remember reading years ago that there was a correlation between length and IQ.
Mine look the same length...my ring finger might be a teeeeeny bit longer
Ring, but only by about 2 millimeters.
Ring finger by at least a quarter of an inch.
@bsmith1: That's about how much longer mine is too, it's a pretty big difference .
by which hand do we judge? My left hand - they're exactly the same.. while my right hand - my index finger is just barely longer. Interesting info though. By the way, what a pain in the arse trying to measure my fingers.
This is some kind of test to see how many people you can make insane in the middle of work, right? First I tried just looking at my hands, but then I couldn't tell if I was holding all of my fingers completely straight, so then I tried measuring the index finger of one hand against the ring finger of the other hand, but then realized that maybe opposing-hand finger sizes were different, so finally I got a ruler out to measure them, because by then I HAD to know.
You'll be happy to know that my index fingers are longer. And if I get fired I'm blaming you.
Both left and right hand, index is just a smidge (maybe 2mm) longer than ring. I also noticed that the fingers on my right hand seem to point to the right (about 10 degrees) more than on my left . After messing around, I believe this has something to do with using a mouse almost daily for 10 years
@lmensor: And my pinkie is a little over an inch shorter than the ring finger... I think I'm gonna have a complex about how short my pinkie is now.
"They call 'em fingers, but I never seen 'em fing." -Otto from the Simpsons
@bsmith1: LOL! My pinkie is also at least an inch shorter than my ring finger! I didn't have a complex about it before, but now that you mention it........
Both of my ring fingers are slightly longer than their index counterparts, but the strange thing is my index fingers. Neither of them are straight (insert joke here). They both start off straight, but then bend in toward the middle fingers. They also start to "roll over" in the same direction, the result being fingers that are neither straight nor level. They've always been that way.
It's not bad. I'd have to point it out for you to notice it.
@dillydally: I didn't think about people having different sized fingers on different hands! That's pretty interesting that yours are different. Mine look the same, a mirror of themselves.
@jjkehoe: I will take all the blame if you get fired!! 8-)
(Hope that made you feel better!)
Index on my left hand (but very close), ring on my right by quite a bit
My ring fingers are about 3/8's of an inch longer than my index fingers. With regard to hormone infuluence, I read somewhere a long time ago that finger length differences were associated with sexual preference. I cannot remember the details, but I do remember that whatever the claim was didn't work in my case.
left hand: index longer than ring
right hand: ring longer than index
so what they heck does that mean?
Well, this is odd....
My Middle finger is the longest...I think it's "supposed" to be this way.
My Ring finger is longer than my Index by close to a quarter inch (same distance between ring and middle).
Index finger is about a half inch longer than pinky finger.
Same length for each hand.
What I find funny is when the toe closest to the big toe is longer than the big toe...
ring finger
@sgrman05: Sounds just like @bsmith1 and my hands. And I guess I'm funny too, because my toe next to my big toe is the longest, and then the toe next it (my "middle toe") is just about the same length as my big toe!
@lmensor: My 2nd toe is also longer than by big toe. Hooray for hands and feet twins!
@bsmith1: Yay! I always wanted a twin!!
Male reporting here. Both rings are longer than indices.
Female - index fingers longer, more so on right
Second toes shorter than big toes (are those index toes?)
all of my fingers are longer than any of my toes.
Mine are dead equal on both hands.
isn't there some correlation between digit length and sexual orientation? something about the distance between them meaning your more or less likely to be gay or something.
Anyways, my ring finger is way longer my ringer, I think my ring finger is closer to my middle finger than it is to my index in length.
