It's advertised as new and undamaged, but I see at least one thing that may be a chip/ding. Also, that rock is probably millions of years old. Other than that, it's a bargain at twice the price!

$999.00 for a rock that some guy found in his back yard?!? Is he trying to make some point or something? Even if I had all the money in the world I wouldn't throw it away like that.

vote-for25vote-against

I've probably got about 200 of these next to my driveway...

HOLY CRAP, I'M RICH!!!!

vote-for9vote-against

yes, but only if he sticks googly eyes on it.

vote-for19vote-against

Oh, man! And just last week I paid $1200 for a similar one that was refurbished! I never seem to find the really good deals.

vote-for6vote-against

Too much upkeep, the kids just had to have the last one, never feed it, or walked it or clean up after it. Loneliness, hunger I'm not really sure why it die.

Found this while checking out other "rock" related deals:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huge-Old-Stock-Cave-in-Rock-Illinois-Fluorite-Chalcopyrites-/150740389678

It actually is pretty awesome, but that's not what stuck out. Here's another, see if you can guess the pattern:
Second Auction

No? okay, one more:
Third Auction

Figure it out yet? It's class. The answer is "class" :)

@drchops: A lot of silica in those shots, and some interesting rocks, too!

vote-for9vote-against

@drchops: is clearly mislabeled. That is not her bottom.

vote-for3vote-against

"US Only. Excludes AK and HI." I dont see why

vote-for6vote-against

She sure is proud of those..umm...rocks...

Dear ruger9x19,

Dear mastermind2025,

You describe the item as new yet it appears to be thousands if not millions of years old. Do you have any documentation of it being new? It also appears to have a few chips, is it possible this is refurbished and not new?

vote-for9vote-against

@ruger9mm: that's awesome. at least we know it's a joke now

vote-for8vote-against

@drchops: The third one scared me a little...I'm going to go wash my eyes now.

vote-for4vote-against

Wow, a rock from California! Nice and smooth too. Just to think how many glaciers it's been under and how many tomato plants it's touched. I'll give them 5,000 pounds (of rocks from Wisconsin) for it!

vote-for4vote-against

This would last much longer then any computer you could buy. In some cases this would be cheaper. Then a computer.

vote-for4vote-against

Most of the $600 rocks that I've seen are white!
[/rimshot]

@jimeezlady: haha.. use bleach.

vote-for4vote-against

Free shipping? Sounds like a deal to me! In for 1!

vote-for3vote-against

This is a great deal. This rock has so many different uses!

vote-for8vote-against

I just asked the seller for the dimensions of the rock... anybody else with me in asking random questions?!?

vote-for6vote-against

he's probably wondering who all of these people looking at his rock are :D

vote-for3vote-against

OK, you made me look. Happy Now? :)

vote-for4vote-against

@drchops: That first rock really is awesome! Love the way it looks with the light behind it.

vote-for8vote-against

For any body wondering:
"Dear jsoko89,

The approximate measurements are:
Length: 3 inches
Width: .80 inches
It is about 8-9 ounces!

- mastermind2025"

I see he lowered the price! I'm gonna ask for a still lower price...
"Dear mastermind2025,

Thanks. 3 x .8" seems a little small for the price. Although it is a very good looking piece, what do you think is the lowest you would take for it?

- jsoko89"

vote-for9vote-against

Dear mastermind2025,

Does the rock come with a Certificate of Authenticity? Notarized, of course.

Dear rprebel,

I dont think there needs to be one!
It is just a rock I found in my garden!
But please explain the certificate matter!?
I'm not understanding your question
thanks!

It'd be funnier if we were being counter-trolled with these serious responses. Wait...what if we are?

vote-for8vote-against

"Dear jsoko89,

I lowered it to $899. Well this is just an ordinary rock!! (I'll lower it down to around 400 soon!
I dont know why people like it so much! Over 300 views!?
Please tell me why people are liking this rock so much.
I put it on ebay as a joke!

- mastermind2025"

vote-for6vote-against

Dear mastermind2025,

Is there anything you would accept in trade? I have the reason you are getting so many views, but only if you sell it to me DIRT cheap. I guarantee satisfaction. To show I know

Why are you trolling this guy?

You are wasting his time if you are not seriously considering buying the rock. At this point, direct him here and explain what is going on.

vote-for6vote-against

@curtisuxor: "...if you are not seriously considering buying the rock."

Let's pause for a moment, and think about that statement.
.
.
.
.
It's a joke listing. You don't ask serious questions on a joke listing.

vote-for-7vote-against

@rprebel: and let's think about what you are doing...picking on a guy who has not wronged you, contacting him under false pretenses and giving the impression that you are seriously considering purchasing the item by asking questions.

Or do you do this a lot and have no moral qualms with this entire situation?

Until you send an email stating you are purposely asking him questions to post publicly on a website for the sole purpose of mocking him, you are doing a bad thing.

vote-for6vote-against

@curtisuxor: It's not mockery. I told him(?) I was just having some fun when I asked the question, and he responded with "HAHAHAHAHA".

Joke. Listing.

vote-for3vote-against

@curtisuxor: The seller is a wooter, they posted a Rich Gannon jersey that they are selling in the deals side before it was taken down. Hopefully they have seen this thread and are laughing as much as I have been this evening.

vote-for3vote-against

@thewronggrape: Yeah, it actually is... I thought "hey, if this is like $10 or $20 bucks, I'm gonna get this thing and make a bitchin' lamp!"

It's almost $400 and counting, with 7 bids.. I think I may have to get into the mineral business :)

vote-for4vote-against

@drchops: Looks like the best thing to do is book a trip to China and fill your luggage with rocks. People are eating up the rocks that she has for sale.

vote-for-2vote-against

@wisenekt @rprebel: Thanks for letting me know. I wish this was clear from the beginning so I didn't look like a humorless stiff.

This whole thing was just one degree away from bullying and the fact that so many people here were engaging in it in a jovial nature was disturbing. I also dislike the idea of people posting private conversations in public without consent. As both appeared to be combined, I'm sure you understand my concern.

vote-for5vote-against

@curtisuxor: If the fact that this person put a rock on eBay is any indication, I'm sure they'd get a kick out of this thread.

It's a harmless misunderstanding. If you ever see some wooters actually harassing some unsuspecting eBay retailer, I'd hope you come down on them the same as you did here, and tattle tattle tattle.

Rock on. \m/

vote-for3vote-against

Actually where I live it is impossible to find a rock other than limestone. I seriously know of people paying BIG money for BIG rocks here for use in their landscaping. Ahhh, the stonewalls of New England.

vote-for3vote-against

Im in New England, I have rocks and Ill even beat his prices!

You guys are killing me...

If your not bidding no harm. He has already been told that some of the questions are jokes.

The joke keeps going...just never ends.

I hope he gets rewarded with a real purchase.

vote-for2vote-against

@huachucac: Did you see that it got re-listed? It's down to $300!

vote-for2vote-against

Price just keeps dropping, it's down to $95.05!
