I read that in the year 2013 all of our food will be in pill form and we'll all drive flying cars. So it shall be.

My new house. Should close at the end of January, if they finish. Race between building crew and corporate. I told them to take their time and do it right, it will be inspected by a professional.

I've got some big stuff for 2014, but 2013 is going to be a prep year. The biggest event is a bad one, they are going to knock down City Hall where I work and build a ball field. I am going to lose my 15x15 window office and for a year have to share a 6x6 cubicle on a windowless floor of a previously abandoned building infested by rats while we wait for them to complete asbestos abatement on the warehouse not intended for human habitation where they plan to cubicle us thereafter for an indefinite period of time. All the other city services will be scattered to the winds, so working with other departments as we must on a daily basis is going to be extremely difficult. Everyone who is at minimum retirement age is leaving, and they aren't filling their positions till (?). I've already been told I'll be taking on my boss' work next month along with my current workload. Twice the work and 1/12th the office space. Joy.

@moondrake: That sounds like a tough assignment. Sorry to hear it. I'm just curious; what city is it that's tearing down its City Hall? You don't hear that every day. How old is the building?

I'm looking forward to my first year of marriage, our brand new apartment (should be ready by June), and the trading company that I'm opening in Hong Kong in April. Vacation to Korea (South), and a possible wedding in Mozambique.
Many exciting new beginnings for my wife and I :D

Looks like IVF is planned for middle of the year. Maybe, just maybe...

@phillystyle: El Paso, Texas. Mostly I have liked the progressive City Council we have right now, but I am wholly opposed to this idea. Council approved the plan without a vote, and have fought petitions in court to have the decision put before the voters. They are spending $81 million to relocate, knocking down City Hall (about 30 years old) and the Insights Science Museum (22yo) and spending $50 million to build the ballpark. In an uncharacteristically cynical bit of political manipulation, they did put to a vote the method of paying for it. They asked voters to approve an increase in the hotel tax, implying that if the increase wasn't approved they'd just raise property taxes to cover it. Make tourists pay or you'll have to. Now they're claiming in court that approval of the hotel tax increase was implicit voter approval for the plan, which it most certainly was not. Anyway, sorry for wandering off topic but I do appreciate the chance to vent. 2013 is going to suck for me.

Meh, nothing big. But, I'm working on downsizing the amount of crap I own, and paying my debt down. I've actually started planning a big move that I hope to have done in two years (big dreams, but something to aspire for!). Hopefully I'll be able to take my yearly vacation to Myrtle Beach with my brothers dart team this year, but with the amount of money I'm trying to use to pay down debt, I may not be able to afford it! Such is life, the end result will be more than worth it, I mean two years (at least) in the making, if it isn't, I'd be horribly disappointed! But, I WILL make it worth it, lol! I know the move will be a good one in the long run!

@benyust2: Good luck!
@olperfesser: Very nice, Congrats!
@moondrake: Ouch! Well I guess in the realm of things if that is the worst of your 2013 you aren't in bad shape. Although 2014 will hopefully be a cakewalk for you!
@thedogma: Good luck with that! The woot! staff has had a tough job lately.
@dmaz: WOW!!!! I hope the future Mrs. likes to travel. Congrats to you and your new family and health and happiness for you in 2013!
@inkycatz: What concert?
@mtm2: Thats exciting!!! Are these your first two?
@baybei: Goals, goals, goals.. The things that make you get off your butt. Watch the site for cheap flight deals. You can usually find something going into Florida.

I'm buying myself a new car for my 40th birthday. I've been driving a 99 Ford Escort for years while I've grown my business and saved my pennies, so it's going to be a fun splurge, and my first new car. Bonus: the Escort is a still a great car in great shape with less than 90K miles, so it will be passed along to my 16 year old daughter.
