When I glanced at it it looked more like a random deal posted on the question side, especially with the wording and the link. So, I am going to throw out a SWAG and say that a mod viewed it the same way and removed it.

I think boc is the only mystery deal allowed on woot

Likely what @theoneill555 said. Sometimes it can be random though, at least in my humble opinion. I posted a chat last week about a new world's hottest pepper that got deleted.

Oddly enough, I was getting comments on it most of the day, long after it was deleted (which I found particularly confusing. One comment e-mail came like 10 hours after the topic was deleted). One person commented the link took them to a yahoo autos page, so maybe I copied the wrong link.

Which would explain the deletion. Hey, look at that! I probably just answered my own issue!

Anyway, with respect to your question, I'd suggest just watching how you phrase it. Probably don't want to include a link to the site, if you did. If it's more of a "is this mystery box worth the try?" I imagine it would be cool to mention the site by name.

We will not have any mystery items promoted on this site (other than our own, of course).

This discussion is about as close as you can get without crossing the line. If this conversation drifts into mentioning a specific mystery item on another site, those comments will be deleted.

All told.

@jumbowoot: What if I mention Ball Park Franks. That sure is a mystery item!

@jumbowoot: now that you're all primed and ready to discuss mystery items on your site and your site only, you'll surely answer the following:

Will there be a BOC today?

@pinchecat: Yes. For some value of "today".

@jumbowoot:If the random mystery wedding dress deal posted yesterday I believe, didn't have the word mystery in the title would it have stood? I searched and don't see it now but it has been posted in the past.

i tattled on it yesterday because i thought the same thing about it not being allowed. but then it stayed up at least 8? hours after that so i thought i was wrong. so when i saw this thread i searched it today too and discovered it (and all previous postings of it) gone. so @jumbowoot: yes or no on the random wedding dress?

Random item = mystery item.

Please tattle on them and we'll get to them as fast as we can.

All told.

@jumbowoot: Note: Didn't want to ask a new question - searched & found this similar one.

Re: Wedding dresses Don't want to belabor this, but it isn't really a random nor a mystery ITEM. You know what the item is; you just can't select color, size or style. To me that's different from a mystery/random box or bag of an item or items where you have no idea WHAT might be in it. An aside: I think the wedding dresses are a hoot.

BTW: I posted a similar deal today for bridesmaid dresses. Again, not a random, mystery unknown item. You can't select color, style, size. And yes, the deal was deleted for being random/mystery. Aren't some deals for winter hats, scarves, gloves very similar? No choice of color, size & sometimes style.

Would appreciate a tiny clarification. Please?

@gmwhit: If the item that the user will receive is a mystery to the user, it is not suitable for this community.

If the item that the user will receive is a random item chosen by the retailer and is unknown to the user, it is not suitable for this community.

All told.

@jumbowoot: Uncle! :-D Thanks for responding! Much appreciation.

Random thoughts while walking away mumbling....some dresses aren't suitable. Ponder. Maybe it's because they're dresses & not suits. Yet, hats, scarves & gloves aren't suits either. It's all a mystery to me. ;-)
