Any Beastie Boys fans here? R.I.P. Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA
I just heard that Adam Yauch, also known as MCA in the Beastie Boys, has just succumbed to cancer. They were one of my favorite artists growing up. I still listen to Paul's Boutique in my car all the time.
Thanks for the great music. Rest In Peace, Adam.
"Now my name is M.C.A., I've got a license to kill
I think you know what time it is, it's time to get ill
Now what do we have here, an outlaw and his beer
I run this land, you understand, I make myself clear." RIP
I am a fan. I am sad.
Yes, very very sad to have just read the news. RIP Adam
I'm also sad. And I feel kind of like a crappy person, because part of the reason I'm sad is it's like losing a piece of my youth. Saw them back in the Licensed to Ill days, and they've always been part of my ongoing soundtrack. Way to make a way-too-young death all about me.
I'll have a glass of Brass Monkey later, in tribute to one of the greats.
Man. Sad news. RIP.
I had no idea he was even sick. This has suddenly become a terrible day! RIP MCA!
Soooo sad! :(
Sad to hear. R.I.P. Adam
I'm a fan. Enjoy them alot.
Just read it. Sad day indeed.
@jjkehoe: Don't feel crappy about it. Yeah, it feels like losing a piece of your youth, but that's because that's who he was to you. That's what mourning is, missing what's gone. People deal with loss by remembering the time before they lost, then feel worse for a bit for remembering, then eventually feel better.
Very sad. I grew up listening to them, from their punk music days... until today. Even got to hang out with them.
Only 48, that sucks.
Cancer is the worst.
Can't vote this up enough, but i'm gonna keep trying.
RIP MCA, and thank you.
I rarely get too emotional about a star's death, but what a loss- the Beasties probably had years of great music left in them.
One of my first album's was "license to ill." I currently have two copies of the CD (one in each car" and the MP3 album on my phone. R.I.P. MCA :(
aw man. being a BMXer in high school and having alot of skater friends, these guys made up a good portion of my high school sound track. no song will ever match the badassery that is Sabotage. keep on illin in the afterlife buddy. RIP
Horrible news. Thanks MCA for the music behind a generation.
I'm so bummed about this. I thought he beat that (profanity). RIP MCA.
Beastie Boys were a very large part of the soundtrack that went along with my childhood. This is a sad sad day.
That sucks.. he was a good guy - changed a LOT from his younger days heh - turned into a philanthropist and an advocate for a lot of good causes..
I know I'm not the only one who wants to listen to some oldschool Beastie Boys, so I give you... links:

A part of a legendary group was lost today, he will be missed but his music will live forever.
RIP Adam
it's been one heck of a week. Levon of The Band last week and now him. Guess Junior Seau makes the triplet complete.
@psumek: Don't forget Dick Clark
I've been listening to beastie boys all day (inbetween watching star wars movies). R.I.P MCA
I %@&*ing can't stand cancer!
I grew up listening to Beastie Boys. Love their music. R.I.P.!
RIP to my main man MCA one of the REALEST! I heard about it today while driving and I started crying, I didn't know that I could be this sad over a celebrity dying but the Beastie Boys have been in my life since I was a kid and I have a ton of respect for what they do.
I first heard License to Ill when it came out while I was in 4th grade. The Beasties' music has been a part of my life since then. Adam, you'll be missed.
"Because you can't, you won't, and you don't stop!" RIP MCA ♥
Really sad :( I had heard he was sick and it caused them to cancel some shows, but had no idea that he was dying of cancer. Beastie Boys will be missed. I have seen them twice in concert and the do not disappoint.
My first concert ever was a Beastie Boys concert.
No bueno!
The Beasties were also my first concert when I was 16. No band will define my youth more than the Beastie Boys. MCA's death hit me harder than I thought it would.
So sad, before they were known they did a song called Cooky Puss, so part of those of us who were teens in early 80s in nyc. Then they changed the world perception of music stereotyping. Adam was a devout Buddhist. His soul is not going to rest, just find a new body to begin again. But the body he left i behind can rest and suffer no more.
Namaste
