Ya admins not following the rules bit me in the butt here. http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/b96a608e-618b-427c-b72e-7cc7b3dfc2d5/hp-photosmart-premium-c310a#31

At first you can see we were talking about the fact he was beat to the punch. And he had a vacuum as the picture. Still thinking it would get deleted we got a bit silly. Then for fun I even voted for the deal that was to get deleted. Then it never got deleted.

@caffeine_dude: I'd wager that a slightly more efficient method (and perhaps it's the method they use) would be to employ a fancy bit of programming that takes into account certain factors and "tases" duplicates.

One such factor might be internal aliases for sites like amazon (of which I'd assume woot would have intimate knowledge on/of) and also external sites like url shorteners (at least the popular ones)
Were it possible to crunch that data without causing crippling lag.

That way the bulk would be caught and the staff might deal with a stray dozen or so inside a week's time.

@a.priori.eureka: I respectfully disagree with the case I pointed out. @rlapid2112: and I both knew his deal was toast. Call some admins to verify.

@caffeine_dude: honestly, that was more fun than hitting #1. i felt like a woot-gangster; i was the later poster, @shrdlu went to bat for it because it had a better description (the other had 0 description). in the end, the first poster got dumped & my post went popular.

Kudos to caffeine_dude & shrdlu.

@caffeine_dude: Sure, originally his deal was toast. I was a bit annoyed at someone misunderstanding how time works, and trying to say that the other was the duplicate, and then posting in that thread that it was the original, but your description was almost non-existent, and then there were all those votes, and then it was just fun. Sometimes fun wins over virtue.

Personally, I wouldn't trust tattles from someone who demonstrates that they don't understand how time works, but that's just me. Logical.

I said thing in that post that I would not have because it was the duplicate deal and I 'knew' it would be deleted soon. I was treating that deal like a chat room.

I tattled on the deal by @rlapid2112 and I voted on the deal. I was just messing with woot.

I have learned my lesson don't mess with woot they are from Texas?
