questionsare you glued to your computer during a woot-off?

I used to speed home from work in hopes of just catching the BOC and ran wootalyzer so I could see every item that popped up.
These days I don't even care. The BOCs are lame. The products are lame. It's barely worth my time. During a woot-off, I'll refresh only the main page once every few hours.
It's gotten pretty sad, no?

When am I not glued to my computer?

Seriously though, in the beginning I was obsessed with woot-offs, ever trying to get those elusive bags of crap.

Now I care less. Most of the stuff during woot-offs is crap, and its not worth that much effort for the few good things that do pop up.

Not that I don't still check in 10 times or so a day during a woot-off. Just not abusing the f5 key anymore.

I've never actually been able to capture the elusive BOC but I think Woot products have gotten much better over the years. I'll admit to not being nearly as into the Woot-offs as I was but I still look forward to them and try to be there (as much as one can) when certain items pop up.

It can be a little overwhelming to have multiple Woot-offs going on all at once-but I love it.

Woot-on!

Now that woot offers so many items every day the woot-offs are just more of the same. When it was only one deal per day then woot-offs were much more fun. Not to mention the chances of scoring a BOC.

I may check in a little more than usual but not like the old days where I'd run back and forth to the bathroom so that I didn't miss the next item.

Not necessarily "glued" but I do keep a page open on my computer and refresh it often. I no longer use a tracker like WootWatcher and I've given up on landing a BOC. From the sounds of it I would just be disappointed if I did score one now-a-days.
As for the merchandise being sub-par, I just can't agree. My purchasing has picked up since the 'overhaul.' I don't see as many products selling out early so logic would say that the deals are not as great as in the past. OR maybe there is just a greater quantity available as the more recent products have been "less-closeout-like."

I used to be. I'd stay here during lunch. If I had to go somewhere, I'd go and get back as soon as I could. Not just for the BOC, but because there were things I'd actually want.. and they may sell out quickly.

But, now.. meh. There is no BOC, of course, so no reason to sit around waiting for what won't come. And, the items.. meh. I guess if I wanted a TV or monitor, or something else pricey. But, I don't. I want inexpensive things I can give as gifts, or keep for myself. So, no.. I'm no longer glued to my computer. When I'm not watching, I'm not too concerned I'm missing anything.

I hope they change it back to what it used to be. Even people on other sites are talking about how Woot is no longer what it was, and the Woot Offs aren't worth what they once were.

I thought I was in the minority, but it appears otherwise. Like most of you, I just don't care anymore. I used to get excited at the prospect of a wootoff. OMG, great stuff!! I'd stay close to the computer and the phone, and get alerts on my phone.

Now, I just don't care much. First and most important: the deals are pretty meh. No trememdous savings, the the stuff isn't very good. I don't feel like I'm missing much when I don't keep up.

vote-for9vote-against

Glued? Not even close. I could count on one hand how many times I checked what item was up. The Woot-offs just don't excite me anymore ... at all.

It's been that way for several months already. I'm guessing that much of what was offered was probably offered in one of the many sub-sites or many many more Woot-plus side sales, and what wasn't probably will be. So why chase it, when it'll be back? There's just nothing super special about it anymore.

"And after my last 3-4 boc's being less than craptastic."

I would assume that means that you have gotten many. MOST of us have gotten NONE, and never will. I see why it has gone downhill for you....lol.

vote-for7vote-against

I'm in the "meh" crowd as well. I've seen nothing since "the change" that makes me want to pay attention anymore.

vote-for7vote-against

Nope.
I did miss out on an item I would have liked, however, so that bit me.

No more, lost interest after the first dozen or so. They seem to be just a resell of the prior months daily sales.

vote-for6vote-against

@gribber: A resale of previous items, indeed, and at the same prices originally offered., it seems to me. I wouldn't mind so much that they offered previous items that remain in stock, but it seems to me that these should be offered at rock bottom "fire sale" prices during a WootOff.

I also noticed that a lot of the offerings were things that were, I thought, currently available on the Woot Plus pages. I didn't double check, but at a glance they seemed to be offered at their regular prices. I guess I could go back and check if I had the time, but again, meh.

vote-for5vote-against

I have them all sent to my phone. Not like anything really good is ever posted, so I am in no danger of something selling out quickly. I really miss old Woot where I actually had to pay attention because I didn't want to miss out on that awesome deal that was sure to pop up at some point...

BUT! Our diligence was rewarded with the OPPORTUNITY to PAY for a shirt! So, all in all I would say it was TOTALLY worth it! /s

I used to glued to my monitor during woot-offs. I would have lunch at my bench, buy take out so I wouldn't have to cook dinner, and have my monkeys monitor the woot-off while I was in transit to and from work. Now, if I am at my bench< I still have either the woot off twitter feed open or wootalyzer. I have saved my jumbowoot codes especially for woot-offs to take advantage of the All You Can Ship but find very little that I want even across the 5 sites participating in the woot-off. Though, I did get my monkeys last night :)

I also use to be glued to my PC during a Wootoff, but that has not been the case in at least a year or so. I check more often than once a day, but I do not sit looking for a BOC or that elusive stellar deal. I do not remember a stellar deal in a long time come to think of it...

vote-for2vote-against

Just when I'm working, then I usually need to get away for a while and sleep. :)

@devexityspace: That comment about the BOCs being less than "craptastic" reminded me.. I actually have been meaning to post the contents of my last BOC for a couple of months.. it was definitely "interesting."

The couple before that didn't even have 3 things and had the EXACT same bag 4 times in a row.

vote-for4vote-against

Days of me being glued to the computer during a Woot-Off ended once Amazon bought Woot. There has been nothing that has interested me on Woot since then.

vote-for3vote-against

2 years ago - definitely!

Now - There was a woot-off?

vote-for5vote-against

@morriea: My first 2 BOC's were amazing.. great items.. The rest were all copycats of each other.. With items you would find at a dollar store =D don't fret for not getting 1..

vote-for4vote-against

@devexityspace: I have gotten one. Just not from WOOT! Mine was from a wootizen.

vote-for4vote-against

@morriea: Well then I guarantee it was a hell of a lot better than what you would have gotten from Woot. The best thing I have received in a BOC was a defective back massager and a broken food processor.

vote-for3vote-against

I don't follow much of the woot-off's anymore. It's a rerun of the woot+ sales, which will be back in a few days/weeks. But I do enjoy hanging out in DW chat during a woot-off. BoC hunting lost it's flare, I have more dollar store crap than I need at this point.

vote-for2vote-against

Now that there is ~30 items for sale daily across woot.... no

It's not the same woot so i don't obsess the same

vote-for2vote-against

Once... long ago I've used to sit through this website all day like a cigarette addiction.

Nowadays, just barely. Not that I've started to hate on Woot, I'm still a fan of the place.. it's just that I've found other things to do nowadays so I'm rarely on this site unless I get really bored and start answering questions like this one.

Woot-offs are still good though, but was never the same as it was before.

Bag of craps, you will be missed.
