When do you traditionally celebrate Christmas?
Growing up I always had three Christmas's. The Saturday before Christmas was spent with my mom's extended family, with eating, singing carols, and a gift exchange. On Christmas Eve, we always went to my dad's parents' to celebrate with his side of the family. Then on Christmas morning was celebrating with the immediate family. It always seemed to work out well, and everyone was happy with the set-up.
Now I'm on my own and situations have changed. Still do the Saturday before Christmas with mom's extended family. But Christmas Eve is spent with my fiance's family, and Christmas morning is at my house with only my fiance and my daughter. The afternoon of Christmas we again celebrate with my fiance's family. And at some point we will make it to my mom's house for dinner and gift exchange.
Just wondering what other's do for celebrations.
I like to get it out of the way in early August.
Celebrating Christmas in August is (likely) more correct for historical reasons as well.
We do ours on Christmas Eve because my brother goes with his GF to her Dad's house on Christmas Day.
Cool with me, gives me all Christmas Day to destroy some noobs on Xbox.
I have always celebrated Christmas with family on Christmas day. This year it will be with a couple friends in Japan or alone in Japan, hopefully the former.
I live alone and my family lives far from here. So my gift exchange is in the afternoon on Christmas Day with all my friends. I usually let my dog have one of his gifts first thing on Christmas morning, just so it feel like Christmas morning and because he is so good about not getting into stuff under the tree, even when he knows it's for him.
