I'm about the same as you, maybe 1-2 years less. It sucks from a seller's standpoint, IMHO.

@jsimsace: I agree, I deal in older toys and other older collectibles. I do ok, but not like 7-8 years ago.

It is rare that I ever sell.

My eBay account was created in April, 1999. I remember my first purchase was WordPerfect software and my first sale was a lava lamp my son won in a contest.

Looks like we all joined around the same time. February '99 here.

Dec. 2000. I'm primarily a buyer, and buy lots of incidentals like batteries, chargers and such. Also buy kids shoes there. I've only sold a few things, but I have a stack of bins in the basement marked to sell on ebay. Like I ever will!

Don't go to them nearly as often as I once did though. Seems like it is all big merchants and not as many people. Probably because of all the ratings mess, bureaucracy, and fees.

September 1998. Cool to see so many other "long-timers" here too, figured I'd be the oddball :)

I primarily buy, but sell occasionally. I sold more before Craigslist came along - much easier to have someone pick up locally, not to mention no fees. But it's hard to beat eBay's huge audience when you have something a little more unusual to sell.

Don't even know how many years now, but sometime in the 90's. Started selling on eBay and Yahoo Auctions(remember them?). I've sold tons of PCs, motorcycle and car parts, I've sold hundreds of hard drives. It's harder now, but I don't blame eBay. Just a few more hoops to jump through, one can still sell stuff and make a little change. You just have to figure out your niche and run with it, can't sell the same way we did 5 years ago.

Member since Feb. 2000, a lot of changes over the years - some good and most bad.

vote-for3vote-against

I've been a member since April 2000.
Never sold anything, but I've bought a good bit. Appliance and car parts, books, music, toys (some for me, some for my nephews). Prices used to be better but it's still a great site for appliance parts, batteries and the like.

December 1999.

Very rarely sell stuff. Buy stuff even more rarely.

Have bought and sold movies, collectibles, legos, etc. over the years but don't sell much anymore due to all the changes from the last few years.

It's funny, I had to call thecustomer service department a few months ago for a credit, after talking to India and Pakistan, I finally got a guy in Nebraska. When he looked at my sign up date, he said, "Whoa....you've been here a long time, I'm just going to credit your account and thank you for being here this long"

Almost 11 years now. Even before I was supposed to be - I used to use my mom's info (don't worry I had permission :D) until I was 18 and changed it over to myself.

It will be 11 years on Halloween. What on earth was I doing joining eBay on Halloween? Apparently there's no history beyond 3 years that I can get to. And only 123 transactions? Not much for 11 years.

November 1998. I think I had another account that was a little earlier, but canceled it after a while in favor of my current account.

I've been a member since June 13, 1999. You would think that they would be nicer to me when I had a buyer complaint that was basically just lying so she didn't have to pay me. My account is now blocked because I refuse to reimburse the money as the seller basically destroyed what I sold her and I had no way to re-sell it. And, I was out the cost of shipping, listing and final value fees, plus the cost to have the item refurbished in the first place! I mean, I've been with you for 13 years, and you can't cut me a break, when I get scammed. Yup! Go ahead and block my account, not like I'd ever sell through you again, as the buyers are allowed to scam....and as for buying, I had my mom make an account, what little I want to buy on there still, I'll use her account for.

@stile99: yeah login was email when i joined as well. i remember visiting the site minutes after they opened up the username registrations; i got a one word easily recognizable name that i wish i hadn't gotten now (but still too good to lose).
