What is the best Subway sandwich?
I go to Subway pretty often, but always get the same thing: a toasted ham footlong on the Italian herbs and cheese bread with lettuce, provolone, and honey mustard with banana peppers on the side. With February fast approaching, I'd like try other combinations, so please advise: what is your favorite Subway sandwich and what goes in it?
Subway Melt on Italian herb/chz with lettuce, a double shot of pickles and spicy mustard. Microwaved. If I wanted a toasted sub, I'd go to Quiznos.
12 inch meatball with everything on it. I'm salivating just thinking about it. My subway meal of choice for years.
I'm a huge fan of the Italian BMT on Italian Herb/Cheese, toasted. I get Oil/Vinegar on mine with lettuce and tomatoe. Bar-none, the best sandwich there.
Since I had Firehouse Subs I don't got to Subway at all.
Foot long Cold Cut Combo on Italian herb and cheese.
Isn't this like asking, "What is the best pizza topping?" :)
I've found the pastrami at Subway is pretty high-quality (to my taste buds), if on the salty side.
This thread explains why Subway always seems to be out of Italian Herb & Cheese bread. lol now that I think about it, I don't even know what other kinds of bread they have.
I actually prefer Quizno's, but at Subway it's gotta be the Honey Bourbon Chicken on Honey Wheat!
@rprebel: keep your fancy breads. Italian white all the way.
Meatball marinara toasted on white w/ provolone, onions, and banana peppers. It's always $5, even without the deal. Other than that, gotta go w/ BMT on Italian herbs and cheese, toasted with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, onions, banana peppers, vinegar and oil.
Anything with bacon. The bacon is a bit thin at Subway, but it's still bacon.
Teriyaki chicken with sweet onion sauce
Honey Oat and Parmesan Oregano are good as well. I just choose bread based on the sandwich I get.
When you toast the Parmesan Oregano, the bread gets a sweet-stickyness to it that goes well with Tuna and Sweet Onion Chicken. None of the other breads do this and I suggest trying it sometime.
Footlong tuna on wheat. Any cheese. Untoasted. Lettuce, pickles, olives, green bell peppers, onions, bananna peppers, jalapenos, S n P, mayo n mustard. Not sure why i like it so much, but i get it every time. I'm kinda mad its no longer a $5 footlong. $5.75 for me now :(
@bigelowb: im totally with you on quiznos, and they have gotten as cheap as subway is too in the past 2 years!
but for subway sub my favorite would have to be the philly cheese steak one? i think thats what it is... the one thats like 8-9 bux for a footlong
Another vote for teriyaki chicken with sweet onion sauce, sounds like that could be lunch today!
I gotta go with the classic Subway Club. The Italian Herbs bread is really good too!
the best is EASILY a double meat spicy italian with marinara sauce, provelone cheese, parmesean and oregano toasted on the monterrey cheddar or plain italian. sub cookies for chips and i'm golden!!
Italian BMT on the Italian herb and cheese bread. Add turkey and bacon. Swiss cheese, mayo, lettuce, black olives, banana peppers, salt, pepper, vinegar, and oil.
Mmmmm. Now I'm hungry
Jersey Mike's. My last couple of sandwiches at Subway were awful. Won't go back.
Pizza sub is the best. It isn't on the menu but if you ask for it, they know about the tastiness.
I'm going to Subway because I'm looking for something quick and not a nutritional disaster, so take my answer with a grain of salt!
Whole wheat bread (or 9 grain), turkey & ham, no cheese, all of the vegetable toppings other than tomatoes, just vinegar if they have it, otherwise o/v, salt/pepper/oregano. Mmmmmm.
@dcalotta: no CHEESE??
I am personally partial to the sweet onion teriyaki chicken on honey oat. Swiss cheese, toasted, then lettuce, tomatoes and LOTS of olives, then the sweet onion sauce.
. . . dang, now I'm craving.
Cold Cut Special.
