Love classic cake - chocolate. Plain old frosted. I LOVE them! :-D

hmm... never had a Long John -- is that a regional thing? My favorite is probably the chocolate-glazed custard-filled ones. Gotta say Krispy Kreme over Dunkin' Donuts, too. (I can feel the hatred coming.)

Of course, even those are beaten by the magical ones with no calories, sugar, or fat... yeah, those are the best.

@kalira: I think some places call Long Johns a bar donut... just kinda a rectangle shaped donut with a smear of icing over the top. Often filled, but not always.

The twisty glazed ones. Man I miss those.

"Chewisties" at Korea's Dunkin Donuts. Wish they had them here.

French* crullers are good, too.

Chocolate glazed. No filling.

TL;DR: Yes.

Depends on my mood, though I'll generally go for Boston Creme or Chocolate Frosted or Raspberry or Strawberry Jelly/Jam or Glazed or Plain or pretty much anything else.

Krispy Kreme glazed! Best donut ever!

Any kind with white cream filling.

I'm all about the "Boston Kreme" as they call it at Dunkin Donuts. Back where I'm from, the same donut was called a "Bismark".

When I first arrived where I am now I tried to order it as a "Bismark" and the employees looked at me like I just grew a second head out of my shoulder. Then I looked at the tag and discovered the regional name...

I love the plain ones covered in sugar grains! I HATE the ones covered in powdered sugar because it gets everywhere. Or I go for Boston Cream or strawberry frosted. :)

Depends on the mood I'm in and the donut shop but I like the powdered sugar covered chocolate creme filled ones from Dunkin' Donuts. From Krispy Kreme either the chocolate covered ones with sprinkles or the white icing filled, chocolate covered ones. Yes, I have a very strong sweet tooth.
There are a couple of independent donut shops near me which do a really good sour glazed cream cake donut. I prefer it with cinnamon but the ones without are almost as good.

Round preferably with a hole in the middle, but I'm not picky. ;-)

Truth be told I will take a Paczki over a regular donut ANY day!

Anything filled with "fruit" filling. The best is Krispy Kreme's Raspberry Filled Glazed Donut.

3 words: Maple Bacon Donut. No, it's not bacon flavoring or crumbles in the batter. It's an ACTUAL slice of bacon on top of a maple glazed donut. Absolutely amazing! They make them at Duke City Donuts in Albuquerque: http://s3.amazonaws.com/foodspotting-ec2/reviews/375199/thumb_600.jpg?1298646679

I stand with @hossdawg97: My favorite kind of donuts are the ones that somebody else brings into work.

When I have to pay for myself: chocolate glazed from Dunkin Donuts.

Raspberry jelly filled = heaven.

I also won't say no to a more traditional chocolate glazed.

Sir, a jelly doughnut, sir!

When I was a kid, the jelly Donut was my favorite. I then matured to the creme filled. Then, when I discovered the cake donuts at Donut Dip, I will never yearn for anything else!

My favorites are the chocolate cake glazed ones. Love that they come in munchkin form too! After that I'm partial to boston creams, powdered cinnamon softees, and the seasonal pumpkin spice donuts. Non-commercially: apple donuts made in my hometown's yearly apple festival are to die for.

@bund9032: Whoa, you're from Albuquerque? Me too!

I like Donut Mart donuts...

I like Bearclaws. But not actual Bear Claws. Those are sharp. And this will sound like blasphemy, but I am not a fan of Krispy Kreme.

@dergage: Donut mart is really good for regular donuts, not to mention they are cheap. Duke City specializes in cake donuts. They even fill some of the cake ones with apple and raspberry filling!

Hah, free it is!

From the chinese store: Chocolate glazed ring, straight or twisted.

From Krispy Kreme: Freshly made (as in not a minute more off the oven) glazed rings.

Speaking of donuts, it makes me want to drive over to the shop and grab a box of dozens right now!

I've also tried the Simpsons donut from Universal Studios... it's alright, might want to get your blood sugar levels checked after eating it though.

Those glazed old-fashioned cake-like donuts that look like they are partially falling apart. Oh man they're tasty!

vote-for4vote-against

My absolute favorite donut is a white cake donut with white icing and sprinkles.

@dergage: TWO people from Albuquerque?? Wow. I loved going to Albuquerque when I lived in Roswell. It was the "big city" for us folk.

vote-for4vote-against

@bund9032: I'll have to try them sometime... sometime when I'm on the east side...

@abitterwoman: ABQ is perfect--it has that big city feel without too many of those big city problems... Plus we have Dion's!
