Mind made up on the Caribbean? There are lots of great places there, like USVI, BVI, and even Puerto Rico is fantastic. But consider Hawaii as well. You can sometimes find condos for rent to save on the hotel costs and in my opinion (some may disagree I know), you can’t beat Hawaii for perfect weather, perfect water, no passport hassles or worrying about possible angry natives.

I like St Thomas and Nassau, but I hear St.John is very nice and relaxing. Lucky.

I also love Bluebeards Castle on St.Thomas. (http://www.bluebeards-castle.com/). They reopened it back up last April!

I am going to add Bonaire as a suggestion. Not very touristy. Great diving. Some nice beaches but usually you have to drive to get to them. Not the island to go to if you want night clubs. If you want sand, surf and quiet; Bonaire is a solid choice. Dutch colony which is close to South Am. So, you get Dutch cooking with beef from Argentina.

Whatever you decide, my advice is to go all inclusive. You will save in the long run, and not having to worry about finances makes the trip that much more enjoyable. I went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and had a great time. I'm sure wherever you go, you will enjoy it.

Cayman Islands. Go for the sun and beaches, stay for the wonderful banking systems.

I've only been to Turks & Caicos (Beaches Resort when son was younger). I really liked it. Beautiful and pretty close.

Wherever you go, just make sure to check on the political situation first. Seems like lately some of the smaller island nations are having problems. At least, that's what my fiance and I have been finding as we search for a honeymoon location.

Puerto Rico. Beautiful beaches, surfing, and gambling

What side of the country are you traveling from? Have you considered taking a cruise or an island hopper vacation and seeing more than one place? We have been to a lot of the Caribbean from both coasts. I would say my favorite so far has been Roatan, Honduras, for the beauty and the lovely people. Next would be Cozumel for all the things to see and do. We are going to Costa Rica for the first time this fall so we'll see how it stacks up against the other destinations.
