What is everyone reading these days?
I am right in the middle of the book "White Oleander" by Janet Fitch. It's an Oprah book and was also a movie. I'm reading it for my book club.
Wow! It is a great book! One of those books that you can't put down.
I don't read a lot of new books. Mostly the classics. I enjoy books by Tolkien, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, and some others. I mostly just rotate through those and try to paint a new picture in my head every time. I'm never disappointed.
I'm in between semesters so I am reading as much 'trashy literature' as I can fit in before classes begin again.
I recently read 'SKYJACK' by Geoffrey Gray which is a non-fictional of the search for D.B. Cooper; the man who hijacked a plane in the 70's and disappeared with $200k. It was entertaining.
I also just finished reading the new Stephen King. Currently I am rereading Ursula K. Le Guin's 'The Left Hand of Darkness' which is fantastic classic sci-fi...
Trying to fit as much as I can before it's back to textbooks and analyses.
couple books I'm working through...
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Black Powder Wars by Naomi Novik
The Emerald Sea by John Ringo
They all have a Sci-fi bent, to some degree or another, and they're all awesome in their own rights.
Am currently reading (on my Kindle) "The Eighth Scroll" by Dr. Laurence B. Brown. Two previous novels were about Egypt; can't seem to let go of that country. It is fascinating. Yes, I've seen the Pyramids. Totally a mind bleep. ;-)
I'm in the middle of @snapster's step-brother's (or was it half-brother?) book, The Last Tragedy.
Due to work, family and health distractions, I'm reading much slower than I normally do, but I must say I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
I'm in the middle of two great books: a modern supernatural mystery called So Cold the River, by Michael Koryta; and a classic mystery called The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins.
Carl Jung's Modern Man in Search of a Soul.
Carl Sagan's Cosmos. I always wanted to read it even if it's a bit dated because it really seems to be more about thought provoking questions and information rather than raw facts. So far I'm really enjoying it.
I just finished Martin's A Dance with Dragons a couple of days ago. I'm finding it hard to start another book just yet. It takes me a few days to leave the worlds of books that are 1000+ pages long!
11/22/63 by Stephen King. About half-way through and really enjoying it. He took a pretty trite concept of time-travel-to-save-history and bent it enough that it feels pretty fresh.
Say what you want about King, but I find his character development to be really great -- If you like his stuff, pick it up!
I'm halfway through the second Gear of War book by Karen Traviss, "Jacinto's Remnant"
Must read series if your a Gears fan.
@ptnjust007: I remember that movie, wasn't bad.
Just finished "Kill Alex Cross" a few days ago, and am now reading "Killing Lincoln". I have a queue of books waiting, but may pick up "American Sniper" for my next book.
Still trying to work my way through 1Q84, which would have been finished within a few days if not for NaNoWriMo and life getting in the way.
Just finished the Hunger Games series and getting ready to start A Dance With Dragons.
I'm rereading the Janet Evanovich 1 for the Money, etc series because of the movie coming out in a couple weeks. (Currently on 4 to Score).
I'm about to start the audiobook for Salt, too.
My brain has been too fried for actual literature lately, but I'm noting the suggestions from others.
I just finished the second Russel Kirkpatrick book in the Fire of Heaven trilogy. I'm debating if I want to jump to A Dance With Dragons or finish the third book then jump over to the latest G.R.R.M. (I've had the darn thing since pre-order - I've just been busy)
I was reading Summer of 1787 but I have gotten away from it. Need to finish.
I am reading 77 Shadow Street by Dean Koontz. I just love all of his books!
Just enjoyed The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman. Now enjoying Hitch-22 by Christopher Hitchens.
