Depends on what you are looking for. Family Games Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Returns or Super Mario Galaxy. Sports Games - Sports Resort and Tiger Woods. More Adult - Metroid Prime Trilogy or Dead Space extraction. Adventure - Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

@silo11: Thanks. Probably some of each. Trying to gauge how much energy I will realistically have after bedtime to play "Daddy's" games.

Your list seems pretty good except I might be hesitant to try MW3 on Wii.

New Super Mario Bros. should be a no-brainer. Donkey Kong Country Returns is impressive but can be difficult for young kids especially.

Mario Kart is also no-brainer. Especially for kids.

I have always wanted to try Super Smash Brothers, but just haven't pulled the trigger (it is never on sale and harder to find).

Lastly, there are several $20 or less games repackaged as "Classics" by Nintendo like Mario Galaxy, Punch Out, and many others. That's probably where I would go first for $20 games. There is a lot of garbage Wii games, but stuff made by Nintendo tends to be pretty good.

@75grandville: My 40 year old brother loves Zelda, so that might be more of a "daddy's" game that your kids could eventually enjoy.

I would say Super Paper Mario (I loved that game!) Also, the Raving Rabbids games are hilarious and a lot of fun. Don't get the first one because that one the "2 player" you take turns. There is a 2nd and 3rd that are a lot of fun but watch out because there is a platform game by them as well (which is also fun but the others with all the mini games is so much fun for a ton of ages)

Just a suggestion, but try looking up free Red Box codes (people sometimes post them in community deals) that way you can try before you buy.

@atd15: Thanks - that's a great idea!

I mostly play my wii with friends so some of my favorites are:

Mario Kart
You Don't Know Jack
Smash Bros.
Boom Blox
Golden Eye
Wii Sports Resort/Wii Sports

I would say Mario Kart Wii and New Super Mario Bros. for your main games. Both of those are fun games that (a) kids will enjoy, and (b) you can actually play with them. Depending on their ages, Super Smash Bros. might also be a good option for slightly older kids.

As for the "budget" game, there are a TON. All of the "Nintendo Selects" titles, especially Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess, are well worth $20. Resident Evil 4 is an exceptional "mature" game. A few other excellent games for cheap include Muramasa, Sin and Punishment Star Successor, Rune Factory, Monster Hunter Tri, MadWorld, Little King's Story, Boom Blox, No More Heroes 1/2, and I'm sure more that I can't think of right now. Note a lot of these are not "child appropriate."

I haven't played MW3 for the Wii yet, but everything I've read has indicated it's a bit disappointing. I know Call of Duty: World at War for the Wii is pretty good, so maybe take a look at that instead.

Mario Kart Wii is my favorite Wii game by far. It has a lot of replayability. I would love it if there were additional arena maps out as DLC, but aside from that I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Here's a great deal on Driver:San Francisco for Wii. This might be more of a "daddy's" game. I think it got pretty decent reviews.

I agree with Mario kart being a great choice, you'll probably want to pick up extra wheels for the kids - and yes, it never goes on sale, still the same $50 price new that it was when it came out. I don't usually use the wheel myself, but your own experience may be different.

New Super Mario Bros is also a great game, though depending on how old your kids are they may find it difficult to play very far into it.

The Super Monkey Ball titles are also pretty good, and extremely easy to pick up. The latter one - "Step & Roll" - supports (though does not require) the balance board which is a good time as well .

One other thing - don't let them sucker you into buying more wii-motes than you need. If you aren't buying many games that support four players simultaneously (it says on the back of the box how many can play at once), you might only need 2 remotes to get started.

You could always hack it...

Mario Kart!!! Also the new Mario Bros is fun.
