I had no idea they had launched it! Just put my email into the beta site. Thank you for posting this question as idk how long it would have taken me to realize.

So far. I do not like. The user interface is pitiful currently least for me it sucked. And not as impressed by the selection currently. I think I'd wait before paying for the service. But eh for free can't complain I suppose. I will be cancelling my subscription.

But for $8, you can get 4 same-day movie rentals plus unlimited streaming. Seems like a better deal than Netflix even if neither of them offer the newest movies. I can understand why they dont -- just like you cannot watch the newest on HBO. They want to make the money in the theater first, then the DVD/Bluray second, then off streaming third.

If they offered it on streaming right away, probably would result in fewer DVD sales.

I just started my trial this weekend too. I am extremely underwhelmed. The streaming selection is pitiful - only a handful of movies I've even ever heard of are available to stream. To make matters worse, there are other "digital titles" available which look like they are included with your subscription, but are actually only available for digital rental or purchase. If you narrow your filter down to subscription only, you can see how small the selection truly is. And were not talking about B-movies, we're talking C-movies and movies that by all rights should not even exist. Terrible, terrible, movies.

That said, I do like that your $8 monthly fee includes 4 kiosk rentals, so that you're really only paying $4 a month for the streaming portion. But right now, there is nothing there that would be worth $4 to me on the streaming side. I know it's only in Beta, but they will have a lot of work to do to catch up to the streaming selection offered by Netflix.

Oh, and I forgot to add that the mobile app for Redbox streaming is so locked down that it will not work on any device that has been rooted. So, I cannot use the Redbox app to stream movies on my HP Touchpad running ICS.

I looked at it. Their web site looks just like Netflix. Since they rarely even have any physical DVD's or Blu-Rays of movies I want to see, I really don't expect much from their streaming. It's very rare for me to want to rent from their kiosks as the selection is so small - and I don't like the action blockbusters like The Avengers or the kids movies like G-Force, which both always seem to be at every kiosk.

So that would be 7 or 8 of the subscription being solely for their streaming, and they haven't announced any partnerships with any major content provider. Which might be because they're in beta, but probably because they don't have any.

This is the first I'm hearing about it, so I suppose it's worth looking into. My gut tells me it's pointless though. Netflix has been around a long time and has amassed good contracts. Redbox would need to catch up and I don't see any major reason to switch from one to the other....I don't see the titles being THAT dramatically different. If Redbox can offer the same or better service/quality/ selection as Netflix at a lower price, then it would definitely be worth it. But I just don't see the cost/ benefit ratio being there for Redbox to find it worthwhile to do that just yet

I'm going to pass. I can't think of why I would need another streaming service after Netflix and Prime.

Ditto on a lot of the negatives already mentioned. I'm surprised nobody has talked about just how terrible navigation and sorting is. It's like they took a cookie cutter store site and made it work for them. Actually, most cookie cutter sites have better sorting options. The only real way to find a movie you want to see is by searching for it. Of course, the problem with that is that they don't have any movies available so it's a complete waste of time. It's pathetic, but more than that, it is frustrating. I haven't even been on it since I got the trial code.

I was excited to get the trial (signed up for the beta some time ago) this has got me way less excited. What they always excelled at in my opinon was the $1 want to watch it now etc.... I know amazon does it but I would love to see them have a pay $1 for streaming rental rather than a by month subscription.

I'll stay with Prime, thanks. :)

Sorry folks, it's extremely pitiful. I'm going to use my free trial to get 4 free kiosk rentals and then I'm cancelling.
I have experimented with a lot of streaming services including Redbox, Hulu, Vudu, Amazon, etc, but this is by far the worst. The selection is pitiful.
If you want a streaming rental of a semi-new release, I suggest Vudu.
I'm embarassed to have been so excited, like many others, I'm underwhelmed.

I don't like it at all.. the selection is horrible.. if you select a movie and for some reason not like it, if you exit the movie you would have to browse again from the beginning every single time... that sucks.. I'm 33 years old and I'm sorry but I don't want to see movies that were made before I was born..
