I work from home and like to take a nap in the middle of the day. It's very refreshing.

Here are some additional responses from other people when I asked a similar question 6 months ago.

Have in the past...many years ago.

I used to take 10 minute power-naps on my lunch break when I worked at a grocery store. They helped me get through the rest of the day!

I work as a nanny and used to nap when I only watched one kid (while he was napping, obviously). Now I watch two kids and they have different sleep schedules so I don't get to nap anymore. :-(

Yes. Once while I was working the graveyard shift. I was stopped at a red light and suddenly woke up about 5 minutes later stopped at the same intersection with a green light. I'm glad there was hardly anyone up at that time.

I used to sleep often on my graveyard shift at a towing/impound company. No one had a problem with it.

You didn't hear the joke?

When they wake you up, just say "Amen."

A long time ago at a call center job in the middle of the night during Holiday when I was working 70 hours a week. There is someone at my current job that does it all the time. I'm going to make a calendar of all the photos I have of him sleeping at his desk.

Working from hard can be tough! :)

I have accidently. At one job I was at I saw a guy fall asleep and then right after he was caught I saw him packing up his desk. That place was like a Nazi camp though.

I nodded off the other day while watching a webinar right after lunch. The speaker was dull and I caught myself when my head tilted forward. No one caught me, so I went a bought a coke to give me a little boost.

I work from home and sometimes its necessary to take a little nap here and there (my manager is pretty cool with it...extended lunch break, etc). Its something you can't do in the office...I am much more productive if I take the needed nap rather than drudging through the rest of the day surviving off of coffee. I'll gladly take logging off 30 min later in the afternoon with a 30 minute nap thrown in than a miserable day where I'm just looking forward to it in the end anyways.

many times. the key is to use your hand as both a head rest and cover from management. I like to position a pen in my other hand to make it seem like I'm deeply involved in note taking. I've actually used this strategy successfully during meetings.

I occasionally doze during lunch, and on extremely tiring days I'll maybe catch 5 minutes with my eyes closed, but I make sure to face away and look like I'm reading through some papers or such >.>

Years ago when I was pregnant with my second child, I had a really rough night and could barely stay awake the next morning. At lunch I decided that I just had to go home to sleep, but no one in management was there to tell. I finally found an assistant manager and the CEO's secretary (always the seat of power) and they suggested that, since it was lunchtime anyway, I should just put my head down and nap through lunch to see if I felt better. It worked! I awoke about 20 minutes later feeling like a new person! Unfortunately, my jerk of a Division Director spotted me. Rather than checking first to see what was going on, he wrote me a stern reprimand. (The only one I've ever gotten). He had already expressed his displeasure when I told him I was pregnant, which seemed strange for him. Later we found out that his 16 year old daughter was pregnant and he was furious at her. Evidently he decided to take it all out on me. (sigh)

Yep, many times. A couple years ago, I would occasionally fall asleep at meetings, as well as at my desk. There've been two or three other people on the same team as me who have as well. My manager told me to cut it out. I re-worked my sleep schedule to get some extra time in, and it hasn't really happened since then. I think I'd only be in trouble if it stayed a recurring problem; my boss is pretty cool.
