Where were you 35 years ago today? (or, happy birthday Star Wars!)

i was only 2.5 yrs old and i was in India. i first saw star wars in 1980. there was a screening a few weeks before The Empire strikes back came out.

so, no matter how badly Lucas has botched the franchise, i still remember the awesomeness that is Star wars.

I was the magic age of 40, at home with a 6 year old. I did see the film!!

I was not even born yet (1983 my birth year) but I gotta tell ya, my Mom showed me the movies just as soon as she had a chance! You can never be to little to learn about The Force!

I was at home and can't remember what I was up to, but I remember the following days and weeks were filled with amazing stories about how awesome the movie was from the cool kids who got to see it.

We eventually got to go see it at the drive-in.

I was finishing up one of the grade-school years. Then when school was out, I went to spend the summer in Michigan with all my cousins. One night, all the cousins went to the one movie house in the small town and saw the spectacular that was Star Wars. I think there were nine of us, ranging in age from 9 to 19. Still one of my favorite memories.

First Star Wars I got to see in theaters was Jedi, though I do remember seeing Empire at a drive-in.

And then somewhere around the late 90's George Lucas broke this little girl's heart.

In a theater watching it...although I was too young to really appreciate the movie. That would come later. :)

I was in my second year of substitute teaching, still hoping I would get one of the jobs the draft dodgers didn't get. I remember wanting to see it for the bar scene in the TV trailers, but I couldn't afford it.

About this time of day I would have been getting out of class at LSU and getting ready to go see Star Wars with my friends. Lines weren't crazy long for these movies back then. But, of course, Star Wars changed THAT, too!

I was just under two, so I didn't see it. I saw Jedi in theaters and remember seeing Star Wars on TV at some point. I may not have seen Empire until we got a VCR sometime in the mid-80's.

I wasn't alive yet 35 years ago.

When I was three, my cousins showed me "The Empire Strikes Back" and said it was a documentary of life in Europe. I was sufficiently traumatized that I've never seen another Star Wars movie!

Finishing my freshman year in junior high(we didn't have freshmen in high school until about 10 years ago). I remember Star Wars as being the greatest movie ever!

I was just a little girl, probably out riding my bike, not even thinking or knowing about the movie. It was a few more years before I knew anything about it.

Working at Radio City. It didn't play there, but I can tell you, the ushers were in love with that movie!

I know it wasn't in this movie....but I don't think kids now realize how shocking the line "Luke, I am you father" was!
I'm still shocked that nobody told.
Everyone was totally stunned!

I was 8, going on 9 years old. I went to Silver Dollar City in Branson with my school as our end of the year field trip. The very next day, my family drove from MO to WV for my uncle's funeral.

I never saw Star Wars in the theater. I grew up in a very conservative household where attending movie theaters was a no no. It was not until I was in college and 3 Men and a Baby was in the theater that I actually saw a movie on the big screen.

A bunch of us drove into Boston on a Saturday afternoon and bought tickets to the first evening show... It was the first one that wasn't already sold out... We walked around the city until an hour before show time and then went back to get good seats.... We had never seen anything like it before.. IT WAS AMAZING...........
