Challenge: A good deal on a telephoto zoom lens for a Canon XSi DSLR.
Just got this DSLR a couple months ago: Canon XSi.
I got it for my wife and neither of us have any experience using SLRs. It came with the standard 18-55mm lens. So I’m thinking the next lens to buy would be the telephoto zoom.
I’m thinking the zoom will come in more handy than any other lens.
Feel free to offer any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks!
Something like this?
or this...
500mm 8.0 telephoto for under $100/free shipping from Buy.com
Hooooo, mama! 650-1300mm for $219.95!
OK, here's the thing, though - to a certain extent, price equals quality. Pros pay thousands of dollars for lenses for a reason, but it'd be hard to go far wrong with a price like this on these specs.
Watch out for the weight of those super-zooms, they can be too much for normal use, and require extra strong (and expensive) tripods.
That first choice above looks a sweet deal though.
Didn't believe the Amazon weights so checked Optika's own website.
500mm = 22 oz.
650-1300 = 70 oz.
