vote-for4vote-against

I got the ups shipping notification yesterday, and according to their site it should be here tomorrow (5/1)

@wickedd365: I dunno, you made money, I lost some...

vote-for7vote-against

I did not buy a skillet. Too expensive for me :(

Mine (in NY City) is expected tomorrow morning (5/1).

@bogie21: I'm with you. I have money left for other less-expensive stuff now!

wish i grabbed one. LODGE is the best cast iron and made in america, but with a glass top stove, no-go for cast iron. my other lodge sits sadly in a cabinet waiting...

vote-for2vote-against

got mine today, but not the cast iron one, it was the two skillets from last week on Home.Woot Sigh wish i'd a known bout the Lodge when i hit the big orange button.

vote-for3vote-against

Mine was just delivered. Can't wait to try it out!

@cowboydann: ... and

I have a Woot calendar also, but I was too lazy to take it off the wall.

vote-for3vote-against

I was so ready to order one until thunderthighs said it wasn't for glass top stoves.

I was pleasantly surprised that something I ordered the first day of the woot off arrived before the woot off ended. Now that's snappy shipping!

vote-for5vote-against

In answer to your question, "How fast did your skillet come?" I also didn't order one. But, I've found that cast iron skillets take a while to heat up - then they're good to 'go.' ;-)

vote-for2vote-against

anybody else get theirs shipped usps? did the tracking work?

vote-for4vote-against

@cowboydann: @narfcake: love it!!
cowboydann looks like a staff member there, for some reason :)

@wvutkep1002: @smasumur: I've been using cast iron - both plain and porcelain-coated - on a glass-top electric stove for 11 years. If you're thoughtful in using it - no dragging across the top, or letting it drop onto it - no problem.

Based on my experience, then, the "don't use" statements are understandable CYA measures because without care you can definitely damage or break a glass-top with cast iron cookware.

They can also be broken by putting ice onto the hot surface. You know, because you needed to cool it down quickly to stop the plastic bag from melting further onto it. Why was there a plastic bag on the stove while cooking? You'll need to ask my husband about that one.

Bleh. I was sick Saturday and completely forgot to log in and get one of these. :< What am I supposed to do now? overdramatic weeping

The email I just sent to service@woot.com:

Hey.

I got the Lodge Woot! Logo cast iron skillets today and was really happy until I discovered that the woot logo appears to have been damaged in shipping and fallen off, leaving just the standard Lodge logo that apparently was underneath the woot! logo.

Given that these skillets cost more than the plain lodge ones, I really expected the woot! logo to stick on better, at least until I could use the pan a few times.

I'm hoping that it will be possible to exchange both of these for undamaged woot! logo skillets, but if they are in really short supply, exchanging one and returning one would be acceptable.

Please let me know.

Thanks,
baqui63

@baqui63: I hate to sound this way, but pics or it didn't happen.

vote-for1vote-against

@baqui63: that's crazy! please post a pic, i don't even see how the bottoms could divide like that. :-O

vote-for4vote-against

@anorion, @w00tgurl:

You guys are kidding, right?

(In case you're not: My skillets weren't damaged in shipping but rather I received two plain-vanilla Lodge Logic L10SK3 12" Pre-Seasoned Skillets with standard Lodge logos rather than the woot BANG logo. In fact, the packing slips with them have the Amazon part number of B00006JSUB on them and I could have gotten them for $22.34 (with free Prime shipping) straight from Amazon.)

Since I cannot find a pic of the bottom of a Lodge skillet online and I don't want to be the one standing in the way of someone's education, I'll upload a pic somewhere if someone wants.

vote-for2vote-against

@baqui63: lol. no i wasn't kidding. when i read your post, i showed it to everyone on chat and they were wondering how that could happen too. @cowboydann even went and got his skillet and looked to see if the exclamation was an attachment or had a separation line (it didn't)
no one believed that the exclamation would just fall off, so i asked for pics to see it for myself

vote-for3vote-against

@w00tgurl:

Hmmm.... Sorry about that.

Maybe I should send another email to service@woot.com... ? (I really thought it was an obviously funny way to complain to them about getting the wrong pans, but apparently not.)

vote-for4vote-against

Yep, I confused service@woot.com as well (they asked for pictures of the broken pans).

I think I need to open another bottle of wine.
