Do you check Amazon Merchant prices or jump straight to the prime?
While looking for some nerf guns/equipment, I have noticed that a lot of the times the "Prime" price is usually more than merchant prices.
Example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006Y3J1F2
$29.99 Prime Shipping
$22.99 + $4.99 Merchant Shipping = $27.98
Do you ever check the "# new from price" merchant listings, or do you just use your Prime Shipping to get the item quicker?
For me it depends on the merchant rating. Less than 95%, no deal. Higher, and >$2 difference and I'll bite.
Yup... But you generally get stuff faster from Prime... When youre in a time pinch, prime wins... If you can wait, order from the other vendors...
I order from merchants all the time. I find I'm rarely in a rush to receive items, and the vast majority of marketplace merchants are great.
Especially for used books and DVDs. Their prices are often WAY lower than Amazon.
I never have checked in the past. Normally I get things from amazon prime because they are always fast. If I don't care about time though I will look at normal merchant prices. If its just a couple dollars I will get my free 2 day shipping out of them!
I'll select prime so that I can waive the 2 day shipping and get the $1 mp3 credit.
@kamikazeken: If you did that in the above example, you would be getting the item the same speed as the merchant, but paying $2 for a $1 Mp3 Credit =D
It depends on what the price difference is and how urgent I need the item. 9 out of 10 times, if I order something today and choose 2 day shipping, I'd get it the next day.
