I've put chili powder of mangos, but I've never heard of putting black pepper on cantaloupe. I may have to try that next time I have some.

I've never tried it yet (but will), and pepper sounds a lot more healthful than dousing it with salt! I put fresh ground pepper on lots of things that other people think are weird.

I've seen people do it, but I like mine plain. Pepper on cantaloupe, salt on watermelon...I just don't get it. Eat it however you like it, and to those who give you grief...screw 'em.

@rprebel: My wife puts salt on watermelon and oranges. Then again, she also puts mayo on hotdogs.

Yes, I sprinkle (not spray) pepper on cantalope. No salt. Do put salt on watermelon; no pepper. Salt & pepper on cottage cheese. Will eat all w/o if S&P aren't readily available. Knew a woman who put salt on grapefruit. :-X Sugar goes on my grapefruit. ;-)

I'm a fan of sugar on black beans, but i'm going to try pepper on cantaloupe today!

Can't eat cantaloupe, makes my mouth itch, but I've put sugar on bacon - love the sweet and salty.

Not yet, but I do put maple syrup and nutmeg on my grapefruit half, then run it under the broiler or nuke it for 60 seconds. Yum!

Lots of good ideas for me to try, and give my family something else to tease me about lol

No pepper on my cantaloupe, but I do pour milk in my chili.

I've never even heard of doing that; I'll give it a try next time I have some, but I do love just plain old cantaloupe. A lot of interesting suggestions.

I do put cinnamon on my scrambled eggs.

@barnabee: That's funny, a friend of mine puts ketchup in his chili. I do like a big spoonful of sour cream in my chili

I do. I learned to do it from my mom. It might be a southern thing. In fact I am eating some right now with tons of fine black pepper not hearty chunks from my pepper mil and decide to google it and your post hit.
