If you have the woot-off lights going, are they the yellow ones, or the red and blue ones?

vote-for14vote-against

Do employees also sit at their desks trying to get the bag of crap? Are they allowed?

vote-for9vote-against

Do you bring in extra coffee pots?

vote-for7vote-against

I bet there are woot monkeys everywhere.

@thefenst: OH come on this wasn't meant to be 20 questions we want details.

vote-for5vote-against

@thefenst: gaaaah the 20-questions nature of this forum is providing far less insight than I would have hoped. Not even a shred of inside culture for your outside admirers??

@hobbit: I need to post quicker... great minds ;)

We need a button to suggest a response to a staff member.

"Click here" to suggest a staff member respond to this discussion.

It is crazy in the office during a Woot-Off. Even more so before I worked for Deals, when I was in accounting. Some people definitely stay late to help with the Woot-Offs. As far as I know, the timing of the BOC is completely random. We don't have any giant Woot-Off Lights (yet) but a lot of us do have the regular-size ones and turn them on during Woot-Offs. Both colors are in play but more people have the yellow-orange ones. We seem to go through a lot more coffee during Woot-Offs. Even we as employees like watching them. It's in my blood, especially since I have been a member for over 5 years now. Is that better? :)

@djbowman: with the email reply I think they all have their names turned on so all you have to do is type in their names and they should get an email that is usually how we magically invoke a staff member to come calling to a thread if we really need their input but this being a woot off I think @jumbowoot is ignoring us.

@thefenst: Much. Thanks. I'm also curious about the level of automation that is involved. Are the lists preset, or is there someone pushing buttons over there? Also, why did you guys used to (I say that, because I haven't seen one in a while) the wine.woot detours? Was that a break for you guys?

vote-for18vote-against

I think it is fairly automated but we still have to set up every sale, which takes a while. We do the wine & shirt detours to give some traffic to the other Woot sites.

@thefenst: I assume a lot of the blurbs come from the past daily offers? What about the ones that only appear on woot-offs? Like the SOG knives.

vote-for8vote-against

@thefenst: if the woot-off lasts another day, could we possibly see another 1 hour shirt.woot detour or do we get one a woot-off?

vote-for6vote-against

@sgoman5674: We have to do new blurbs for all new items.

vote-for4vote-against

@theoneill555: Hard to say, I think they usually only do 1.

vote-for4vote-against

I thought they did 2 last woot off @thefenst

I can't wait for the Woot Webcams. Although I want the kind that one can manipulate so we can stare at people from the corner.

vote-for1vote-against

It's slightly yellow and it flashes! WOOHOO!

vote-for6vote-against

So to sum it all up. The woot staff is not as crazy as we are. A couple people work late or extra but they aren't glued to there desks hitting F5 basking in a disco tech of flashing woot lights.

vote-for6vote-against

@thefenst: does the staff have additional opportunities to buy the items from the warehouse, or to they have to go through the site like the rest of us. Increased access to the woot supply could reduce their demand...henceforth reducing the abuse on the F5 key if they could snatch stuff whenever or know what's up next.

vote-for10vote-against

@perkalicious11: We can buy stuff from stock on a limited basis.

vote-for5vote-against

There is at least 1 person who stays up all night, we take turns.

The last day of the woot off feels like the last day of school, and weekends are much more enjoyable when there is no woot off coming up :)

@fidett people at the office do attempt to get the BOC, most fail (even if they know it's next).

@fidett uh, there are no breaks during the woot off. Wine.woot has their own woot off, and that took out the wine detour. The guys in St. Louis created an Artificial Intelligent robot that we call @BigD who controls the woot off, we even gave it an office with a desk, chairs, and a window. It's very fascinating the first time you meet it.

vote-for4vote-against

@kevinatwoot: do other employees get jealous that a robot (@BigD) gets a window seat? ;)
