at time of deal submission there is a back and forth selector on the thumbnail. The auto-detect template we have doesn't always guess right so the system loads all images from the URL for you to rotate through.. the same UI is not used for editing and therefore currently you only have the one shot at getting it right.

I think it would be beneficial to have the option to specify a link to the image, as a lot of times (such as when you are posting a link to a promotional landnig page that uses flash or a background image)the product image is not available on the URL you specify

@xboxer75010: This was a good question, and I even posted a deal just to understand better what you (and Snapster) were talking about. I think as things go on, there will need to be a reminder that you're going to have to keep the image you're getting. I do agree with Pommy that it'd be nice to have a URL, but that surely could lead to something traveling back and forth between innocent/informative, and not-safe-for-work. People just can't seem to resist abusing the system.

I've had at least one deal not pick up all the images on the page - i.e. it saw only some of the images (first deal I posted, if it helps debug - probably the way that the image is displayed interfered).

I agree. That is frustrating.

@shrdlu: We are able to post images on woot.com, so it would be just as good/bad to be able to do it here...

@YouCantWootThis: As we both know, some of the images added (during Woot Offs, for example) really need to be edited (or deleted). I think this is a thing that will come (for Deals), but my guess is that it's not high on the list of priorities.

One of the things that makes it so hard to load pages during woot offs is the number of very large images coming from various sites (like imageshack and icanhazcheeseburger), and I think that would be counterproductive over here, where the database off in the clouds has the potential to become overwhelmed. I'm actually interested to see how much data this can actually hold. It's a good test of the cloud, probably better than most other uses I've seen.

But I digress (how unusual)...

When I posted the Batman collection there were no images to select from. There was an image on the linked page, but there was zero choice on the Add A Deal window.

Miracle of miracles, Batman now has an image. Thanx
