no tobacco or smokeless tobacco on deals.woot. Unless you're paying deals.woot off, then it's allowed.

#1 rule: Keep it civil.

vote-for18vote-against

@cowboydann: but this is not tobacco OR smokeless tobacco (I see cigars many times). This is actually to help STOP tobacco.....it is a product designed to help quit...without any tobacco at all.

PS...I am always civil...:)

vote-for14vote-against

But they allow cigars...

Anyway, I sincerely hope you can stop smoking!

vote-for12vote-against

@fancyd33: Thank you for the kind hopes...I am down to 1/2 pack a day....this could help.

vote-for10vote-against

@morriea: I'm sorry but I googled "Victory Electronic Cigarettes"

And this is the first thing that comes up "Victory Electronic Cigarettes - Smokeless e cigarette starter kits. "

I didn't even go to dailysteals so I probably look like an idiot now.

vote-for10vote-against

I like the description.

The Victory Electronic Cigarette is designed to be like a real cigarette, but it isn’t a cigarette; it’s electronic, like a computer or a vending machine.

I hope this product works for you! Congrats on getting down to 1/2 pack!

vote-for7vote-against

@fancyd33: Thanks!

I am still curious why such a helpful product at a great price was removed. Does anyone have any idea?

vote-for9vote-against

I saw this & considered posting it, too. Interesting that it was deleted. I'm not aware of any rule against it, but then I'm not up-to-date on the rules. ;-)

My guess? It was deleted in error, apologies will be made, and you will be asked to repost it.

BTW: Best of luck to you - 1/2 a pack is good!

vote-for6vote-against

@morriea: Repost and see what happens...

vote-for5vote-against

@jsoko: Giving it a shot. Re-posted....

anyone want to join me in giving up the tobacco cigs?

vote-for8vote-against

Nope....gone again. Quickly removed from the WOOT deals universe....Maybe anyone that wants to try to quit smoking will see this question and check out the item themselves.

Still searching for the answer......(and it is not 42)....

vote-for5vote-against

@morriea: Saw it, then poof. So sorry! Wondering if the word 'cigarette' is on a list that automatically deletes a deal? Darn it!! I'd like to know why it's not allowed, too. Hope someone will come by & let us know.

vote-for6vote-against

@morriea: Probably time to invoke @thunderthighs
If she doesn't have an answer, she will know who to ask.

vote-for6vote-against

@gionot: I do believe you have invoked.....we all bow to the wisdom that is @thunderthighs

vote-for9vote-against

@morriea: Honestly, I'm a bit stumped too. I'll send an email into @jumbowoot asking for clarification. He'll most likely pop in to answer tomorrow.

For now, go ahead and repost it. Everyone else is likely in bed. LOL.

vote-for5vote-against

@thunderthighs: Wow....@thunderthighs is FAST!

I guess I could try one more time.....The anxiety is making me want a cigarette......lol

vote-for6vote-against

@thunderthighs: Thanks for your lightning fast response, even if wasn't good news.

@morriea: Gave it our best shot, but TPTB don't seem to think like the rest of us.

Good luck on quitting smoking! I do think the e-cigs could be helpful, and I hope you are right that others will find them through this discussion.

vote-for6vote-against

@thunderthighs: I see that.....it does seem somewhat arbitrary....

A rule is a rule. I would like to say that this is the type of product that SHOULD be allowed. It is pretty much the antithesis of a deal for cigarettes for someone wanting to use them as an avenue toward quitting.

Thanks for finding that for me.

vote-for5vote-against

@thunderthighs: REDRAW THE LINE, PERHAPS?

TT, Sorry, couldn't resist. Thanks for finding the answer!

vote-for5vote-against

@thunderthighs: :-D I know, I know. Was kidding. Just wanted to see you doing what you said when someone does caps, bold & italics. "That sends me to the corner crying and rocking."

I would like to speak out against ecigarettes with hopes to convince others to see my point.
When filters were placed on cigarettes, they were sold as a healthy alternative to non-filters, doctors recommended them in the 40s, and we saw an increase the number of smokers . When lite cigarettes came out they were sold as a healthy alternative, some doctors recommended them in the 80s, and we saw an increase in the number of smokers.
I truly believe that ecigarettes will increase the number of smokers. Right now you can smoke them inside legally. Right now, 'they do not seem that bad'. Right now they are a 'healthy alternative'.

SO.. Do they belong on deals....While I would rather not see them here (truly my least favorite thing) I would not stop coming here because of it.

vote-for8vote-against

@caffeine_dude: I fully understand your point of view. I also know that a line needs to be drawn. The problem is "who decides" and "where". In this case Woot decides....which is as it should be. The where to draw the line is another question not so easily answered. Do you allow fast food? Your beloved caffeine? (Yes! Please). Candy?

This is a product that can be used as an aid to quitting actual cigarettes, which I hope you would agree is a good thing....I purchased it with exactly this in mind. The end use is the key, and I would hate for someone struggling to quit to miss on a deal on a product like like ths at a very good pice.

vote-for12vote-against

@morriea: While we can agree that it is arbitrary, it was not without some careful consideration. What we ended up with was a drug delivery system without a general understanding of a quality standard or the existence of a generally accepted and understood quality standard. Teeth whitening devices/regimens are in the same boat. The exception for teeth whitening will be products that can be purchased off the shelf at your local pharmacy. There is no exception for any e-cigarettes at this time.

Please tattle on any post for e-cigarettes.

All told.

vote-for6vote-against

The @dailysteals account just posted the same deal ~15 min ago. We'll see if this is really an arbitrary rule or just pandering to companies at the expense of the community.

vote-for6vote-against

@caffeine_dude: Electronic Cigarettes are nothing like the normal Tobacco cigarettes. If you speak out against ECigs, than you are also against other stop smoking aids such as the nicotine patch and nicotine gums. These products deliver only controlled nicotine.

Nicotine in itself is still a poison (the tobacco plant generates nicotine to stop insects from eating it) and addictive, but with that being said it is still not as harmful as a tobacco cigarette containing all the carcinogens.

vote-for3vote-against

What was your deal? I am interested in this product. I just went back to smoking after quitting for a year. (HATE IT!!) Can you post it here or email me. [mod: email removed, please use PM]

How expensive are the refills and how long does a cartomizer last?

Daily Steal is a starter kit with 6 cartomizers for 14.98 with shipping included. I found this thread after Googling victory elctronic cigarettes.

vote-for4vote-against

@montelbargains:
Uh-Oh...where did the PM go? I hope the link is OK in this instance.

vote-for5vote-against

@jumbowoot: Thank you for your explanation, as it makes the ban seem a little less arbitrary.

Now, can you please explain why cigars fall on the acceptable side of the line?

vote-for5vote-against

@gionot: No, I can't. That is completely arbitrary.

It's over there with alcohol and beef and candy and colas.

All told.

vote-for5vote-against

@morriea: Very interesting question and series of answers. All I want to say is I used to smoke 3 packs a day and was at a point that I was scared I'd never be able to quit. Quitting is a process. You make progress, you stumble, but you keep going. Whatever you can find to work (that's legal!), try it. I quit in 1990 and still view it at one of the hardest things I ever did in life. You can do it!

vote-for4vote-against

@jumbowoot: So appreciate your refreshing candor. Thanks!

Is there a possibility that items (such as e-cigs, stop smoking patches & lubes) can be looked at again as products that would be permitted? An aside: These are available over-the-counter.
