What is an appropriate deal to post?
Yes I know, this has been asked before. Sorry. But I this needs to be addressed again in light of the following posted deal:
Now that you have gone to the deal link and seen/read what this is, what defines "appropriate"?
Now I am a fairly easygoing guy when it comes to a lot of things, but There could be underage adults here, and I know that people look at this site during work and would be horrified if their employer's filter blocked this site, but there has to be a limitation as to what people can post.
Well, if you don't want to be caught looking at it at work, then don't post it. I think that deal you linked should not be posted.
On another note, I wasn't too happy to see a gun for sale, either.
@sgoman5674: Glad that I realized this was a not-safe-for-work link before I clicked it. I would think that you should click the Tattle button for the rest of us, since your brain has already been burned. Bet anything the poster was a white triangle with 0/100 as a score.
@SecretAgentWoman: Guns don't bother me. I've voted ammo up. I've voted cigars up (and I loathe them). I've seen decent deals for both. It's one thing to have something I object to, and quite another to have something completely inappropriate. Hopefully sgoman5674 has already hit the Tattle button.
@shrdlu: Yeah, guns for me fall under the "don't like 'em, don't buy 'em, then" category.
@shrdlu: Actually purple triangle with rating of 98/100.
@sgoman5674: Even worse news. Someone who should have known better then. I'm still hoping you tattled.
@shrdlu: I did, but the person who posted it came back at the comment I made with very good points. A recap of it: Sexuality is just as important as other things and "a deal is a deal."
I can't say i disagree with them, but if it isn't work safe, I don't think it should be posted. Mainly because of the filtering that a lot of companies employ, and I don't want this site to become blacklisted.
@SecretAgentWoman: I am not a trigger happy person myself, but there are people who like guns, "toys" and other weird things. On a site like this you have to keep an open mind. I try to.
I am not really offended by the deal I posted, just concerned about accessibility for every wooter no matter where they are.
@sgoman5674: Sexuality be damned. Some things just don't need to be here. I get a bit tired of the superficial response to things like this. This needs to be a relatively kid-safe/work-safe place, and there are somethings that just HAVE to be off limits. This kind of thing has to be one of them.
@shrdlu: Your right all the way. I told the poster of the deal that and they hadn't thought of that. Now they are aware of the issue, woot is aware of the issue and hopefully they will set a filter of, "If a woot employee can't see it at work, it can't be posted."
What about digital deals? Like free content on a gaming system. Or a promotional offer?
Suggestions???
@barabbas: Please read ALL of the comments in this thread before asking questions. I also suggest reading other, similar questions.
