Recently, the woot! servers crapped out and my stats were totally erased. I was frantic, I emailed everyone at woot! to get it fixed. It took about a day to fix it, and I was upset. All the hard work, postings, purchases just vanished. This site has become a daily part of my life, I read news in the morning, check out woot! deals, jump on Facebook for a couple of minutes and then go to work every day. I think the ownership of getting to that level makes us focus on the triangle.

Because generally the more active you are on deals.woot the better chance you have of getting some of the awesomness that @jumbowoot divvies out in his infinite graciousness from time to time.
Otherwise, it's just a fun community.
Because we are the internet, where imaginary points matter! Facebook has likes, Twitter has Retweets, Reddit has karma, and Woot has triangles. But unlike the others, apparently on Woot you can get stuff for it! News to me! Thank the Woot Gods!

It's important to me because it lets me know (and my employer haha) that I spend entirely too much time on Woot. :)
When my status dropped to 89 and the color changed, it ruined my day. Pitiful, but true. I don't even like it when there's a hiccup and my stats drop to 0, even though I know it's a mistake. Just call me Pavlov's dog. Woof.
I don't mean to sound holier than thou, but I really don't find it hard to keep the black triangle. I just check deals.woot daily, vote up or down a few deals I think are good/bad, make a comment or two, and that's it. Post a question and a deal of my own once every other week. Pretty easy.
Shhh. They might get angry and try to lynch us.
