AFIK, THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM LEFT. IT'S THE CULTURE OF NOT USING THEM THAT IS RAMPANT.

EDIT: I'LL CHANGE MINE THEN! Better?

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR.
;)

PS - I HAVE SPARES IF YOU NEED SOME.

@jsimsace @notanaardvark: Egads, show some restraint! You can't go flaunting your capital letters around like that!

vote-for15vote-against

@thunderthighs: Trade for some pronouns?

Actually, I think the Woot community seems far more literate than the general public. Too bad you can't fix the capitals with a red pencil.

vote-for10vote-against

Maybe there is just a delivery problem. Post Office is handling the delivery and the postage is screwed up.

vote-for11vote-against

@notanaardvark: The shortage of capital letters has nothing to do with literacy. It seems to have to do with lazy pinky fingers from what I can tell.

vote-for11vote-against

Here are some russian capital letters since your puny american alphabet is so lacking.

@mtm2: Oh, you could be on to something. Could be that the packages containing capital letters are being delivered SmartPost. We all know how that goes.

vote-for11vote-against

lol - Maybe Woot sold a batch of badly-refurbished keyboards?

vote-for8vote-against

@notanaardvark: Hey now, no need to start with the personal attacks! =P

vote-for8vote-against

yes, there is a shortage. it began on woot & clones - no caps anywhere. then there's deals - tags are never in caps, even dvds. then, of course, there's texting which not only doesn't use caps; words aren't spelled out either.

to be totally truthful, i blame everything on the redesign. the yelling, blaring woot plus has burned out my retinas. hard to tell caps from small letters. my eyes, my eyes! brain gone, too.

tt, your son is doomed to exist in a world of small letters. it's okay, he'll adjust. punctuation is next (fake period here) wait (imagine a ! here) that's gone, too(.)

redesign's fault clearly

@thunderthighs: Sorry. Here are some unrelated grammar rules that might make you feel better:

@samstag: In Soviet woot, there is shortage of capitals all the way from A to backwards R!

But yes, it seems like more and more people cannot be bothered to spend 20 seconds to write proper sentences instead of 15. I'm all for abbreviations when texting or what have you, but I really think we need a renaissance of more professional (-ish) writing online. I know that I give a lot more credence to what someone says (or asks) if it's properly written out than to the mongrel English many people use these days.

Edit: Oh, and for giggles lets blame it on the site as well, since the puts the question in all lowercase characters anyway at the top, next to "questions ->" below the horizontal bar. I've always found that kind of silly.

vote-for5vote-against

no lie, i am lazy. that being said, i make an effort to capitalize names.

vote-for4vote-against

I hate to be serious. But I know why I miss many capital letters.
When using my pull-out keyboard on my phone "shift" must be hit BEFORE the letter to be capitalized. I bring that habit to my computer keyboard and I waste a lot of "shifts" by failing to hold the key down. IT DRIVES ME MAD TO HAVE TO FIX IT!

vote-for4vote-against

as you noted to me in an earlier comment: my keyboard seems to be missing the shift keys. occasionally one will stop by to visit, but usually it's just a passing thing. sorry it (and i) bug you so much.

vote-for6vote-against

@thunderthighs The smart phone/tablet will make capitalization automatic so perhaps the trend will start to trend back to proper capitalization.

@jsimsace @notanaardvark: Thank God you posted first, else this post would have been in all capital letters.

vote-for2vote-against

See, I thought they were getting used up by the people who insist on posting comments in all caps.

It's the text-speak that's making me grumpy. It reminds me of the notes my kids used to write when they were 5 or 6. Sometimes, they were real head scratchers.

Psst! Quit shouting at me. I can read you just fine.

vote-for2vote-against

Everyone is horse from all the YELLING online. When the election approaches all the saved up Capitals will come back with a vengeance. Then you'll be asking does anyone know where the lower case letters went?

vote-for3vote-against

proper capitalization is a sign of the man putting us down :)

vote-for2vote-against

Who dares down-vote @thunderthighs?!?!?!?!

We know how you feel about lack of capitalization, but how do you feel about excessive punctuation????

vote-for4vote-against

@pitamuffin: According to Aristotle, the virtuous habit of action is always an intermediate state between the opposed vices of excess and deficiency. I kinda like Aristotle, and dislike excess punctuation.

Might be a me thing. Also possibly took too much philosophy in college.

vote-for2vote-against

@pitamuffin: Excessive punctuation is the from classic Woot!, so I love excessive punctuation!!!!!!! So much!!!!!!

vote-for3vote-against

capital letters are the weapons the state uses to opress the masses. we have nothing to lose but our chains!

no1 no1
vote-for3vote-against

@pitamuffin: Maybe those that can't afford capitals overcompensate with punctuation.

vote-for2vote-against

@lavikinga: OMG! That's it! They're wasting our precious resource of capital letters. We must start a conservation campaign.

vote-for2vote-against

@thunderthighs: Does this punctuation make my sentence look too big?

vote-for2vote-against

@inkycatz: Well, the tail end of your sentence does look a little lumpy.

vote-for3vote-against

@inkycatz: perhaps a little perfume, a push-up bra, and a low cut blouse might help? It'll distract from your lumpy tail ;)
