I'd enjoy it, but I don't think that's the sort of thing they're looking for.

vote-for4vote-against

He is as good as anyone else. Who was it this year, Steven Tyler? "Weird Al" is at least as appropriate as him. Right?

vote-for15vote-against

@benyust2: Even worse. This year was Madonna.

vote-for9vote-against

In a heart beat. That would be the best one ever!

vote-for2vote-against

It would be the equivalent of Ricky Gervais. He would just spoof all the popular music of the moment. You have to keep in mind the audience that actually pays $1500+ to go to the superbowl. They may not get it.

vote-for19vote-against

@eyeflytwohigh: Yeah, they might not get it, but do the people who pay that money to see grown men chase after a ball really want to see Madonna either? It doesn't really seem to be thought out much...

vote-for27vote-against

I'd watch it in a hearbeat. Where do I sign up? Is there a petition to sign? It would make the SuperBowl worth watching that much more.

vote-for10vote-against

Yes, I would support this. Most of the $1500 ticket buyers are in the beer line at halftime anyway and won't even see it.

If the NFL won't get on board, perhaps one of the cable TV networks would consider doing a alternate broadcast halftime show - didn't MTV used to air Beavis and Butthead alternate halftime shows?

vote-for6vote-against

He is very entertaining which is more than you can say for most of the shows they put on and even if not he won't be much worse. If my team isn't playing I'm just watching for the ads anyhoo.

vote-for7vote-against

Hell yeah! Where do I sign?
Would be the best one they have had in decades.

vote-for7vote-against

I would definitely watch it. I think it is a GREAT idea. At least he is entertaining. I bet he'd make a spoof about the halftime or superbowl itself, which I suppose could really go either way... Maybe he could make fun of passed Superbowl Halftimes? Either way, I think it would be really cool. It's not as if the music they choose matches the people who watch football anyway. At least Weird Al would get people laughing, especially the drunks!

vote-for10vote-against

I've seen Weird Al and he puts on a great show. He may be a novelty act but he's very entertaining, has an excellent band, and his shows frankly have better production than most headliners. I'd be all for it.

vote-for6vote-against

I too, have seen Weird Al in concert. He's awesome! I would love to see him do a half-time show! I hate football, but I would actually watch just to see Weird Al.

vote-for13vote-against

short answer: yes.

long answer: hell yes.

vote-for6vote-against

Absolutely. One of the best performers I've ever seen.

vote-for4vote-against

As long as he wears the fat suit and rides a segue.

vote-for3vote-against

Can't be worse then the choices as of late

vote-for11vote-against

I would be in Amish paradise.

vote-for-1vote-against

@durkzilla: If buy "beer line" you mean the line to remove the beer from your body in order to drink more beer, then yes, they'd be at the beer line.

:-D

I missed this year's superbowl due to business travel. BUT it's probably for the best since if I watched Madonna perform, I'd probably have had to scoop my eyes out with a melon baller. C'mon people, I have HDTV, we don't want to see somebody who was in her prime when my father was an infant.

vote-for7vote-against

@rockytrh: She was in her Prime in the Mid 80's. I highly doubt that you are old enough to be away on business if your father was an infant during the mid 80's.

vote-for4vote-against

@claudicina: Ok, so I was exaggerating a bit, BUT my dad was a teenager (19) when she released her debut single.

vote-for4vote-against

Absolutely! There would finally be something to watch in between commercials.

vote-for5vote-against

I would look forward to the half-time show for the First Time Ever!

Provided, of course, that there wouldn't be any 'wardrobe malfunctions'. I would love to see Weird Al.....just not ALL of Weird Al.

vote-for3vote-against

Heeeeeeeeck yes! That would be one of the best shows ever.

You just know he'd find the most random guests

vote-for3vote-against

I'm hoping Weird Al will work out a deal for the half-time show as a cross promotion for his remake of UHF.

Sadly, neither of these things will ever happen.

vote-for4vote-against

I would love it and may even watch the Super Bowl if he were on, but I suspect that most of the Super Bowl watching public is not interested in Weird Al but in insert name of popular pop star here instead.

Nevertheless, it would be fun to join the movement. Where do I click/sign?

vote-for6vote-against

It would be better than Madonna and the previous year's Black Eyed Peas.

Those shows were unbearably bad.

vote-for6vote-against

I'm onboard. Let's get it done.

Would be a special bonus if two teams no one cared about made it and everyone tuned in for the half time show and not the game.

I just thought about it. He would probably do some funny outfit like Janet Jacksons nipple rings on his. LOL I would be all over this.

vote-for6vote-against

I don't think it would ever happen, but I'd watch it.

I loved Weird Al when I was a kid just because he was funny, but the older I get the more I appreciate how talented he really is.

vote-for3vote-against

@wnyx585am: Why does UHF need to be remade? It's just about perfect as is.

And yes, I would actually take time to watch the half time show if Weird Al were headlining it. Of all the concerts I've been to, he has hands down been the most entertaining.

vote-for3vote-against

@agent019: I agree he would do a wardrobe malfunction.

vote-for4vote-against

@rustybender: Indeed. He is one of the most talented musicians and songwriters out there. Sure, he samples the sound, but he's been making relevant, entertaining music for decades and despite sampling the sound his music is more or less completely original.

vote-for6vote-against

@bhcompy: By 'samples the sound', do you mean using pieces of the actual recordings of the songs he's parodying? Because I don't think he's ever done that.

vote-for4vote-against

Just want to say first of all, I'm a huge Al fan since the 80's. I support him making all of the monies in the world, but I don't think he would really fit in with the Super Bowl. They tend to go for really big huge mega stars, and while Al has had his success I don't think the majority of people outside of the internet would put him in the same class as Madonna, The Who, and The Rolling Stones. Personally, he's above all of those guys!

vote-for3vote-against

I can't seem to find a petition to sign for this, but I'd definitely support it. I have seen him in concert at least 3 times, and he always puts on an excellent show. I'm sure he'd have some recent-enough material to hold the attention of most people who would be watching the game.

I wonder if he could get an ensemble supporting cast for it? I'm sure people are well aware that his video "money for nothing (the ballad of Jed Clampett)" actually had Mark Knopfler in it, and "Eat It" had Eddie Van Halen; so he has a history of bringing in stars to participate in the parodies of their own work. That could make for an epic half time show, even for people who aren't big fans of Weird Al.

vote-for4vote-against

@lparsons42: Signed it. The great this about Weird Al is that I'm sure he would create a song for the occasion, which would be a nice change.

vote-for7vote-against

But I hear Nickelback will be available next year...

...why are you all staring at me like that?

vote-for2vote-against

I dont really like Weird Al, but it has to be better than the BS they have been putting on in the last 6-8 years.

vote-for3vote-against

Upon further reflection, I would like to nominate Flight of the Conchords to play next year's super bowl.

vote-for3vote-against

HOLY HENS IN A HANDBASKET YES!!! That is how you get me to watch the Superbowl!

vote-for6vote-against

@benyust2:
Finally, robotic beings rule the world!
The humans are dead [the humans are dead]
I said the humans are dead [I'm glad they are dead]
We used poisonous gases [with traces of lead]
and we poisoned their a**es [actually their lungs]

BINARY SOLO!

0000001 00000011 000000111 0000 1 1 1 1

vote-for4vote-against

@rockytrh: When a friend of mine first got an iphone, he set the ringer to be that song starting with "Binary solo" it is pretty funny when I'm sitting there with him and all of a sudden, I hear his phone say "binary solo 000000100000000111"

"because they are dead"

vote-for4vote-against

This would be awesome! I would love to see it happen.

vote-for3vote-against

and he needs to have live puppies on stage because i dont have picture in picture so i cant watch the puppy bowl and the halftime show.

vote-for1vote-against

Is anyone selling tickets yet? If Al does the halftime show I'm in for three!

vote-for1vote-against

yowsa! plus I'd love to hear the aftermath of it all - the bit*rs, moaners, and the confused :-)
