Usually, but I don't keep track, so I'm sure some slips through the cracks.

Yes, but then again, I only sign up for that stuff from reputable companies like walmart sample center. A lot of the ones (like the pizza cutter) are scams that I avoid. Normally a little research before you give up your info will help prevent such things from happening.

@lichme: That is why I followed the advice that other people posted, and used a free email account with my work address as the shipping address.

@lparsons42: In case you don't know about it, you can always use mailinator for instant inboxes. Basically it is a non passworded email account that you dont have to create. You just check it for any new emails. It gets purged automatically too. I use it for registering a new email anytime I want to go to DQ for a blizzard, since they always have BOGO when you join the blizzard fan club.

Some stuff shows up. Some doesn't.
You can increase the chances of getting stuff by using a real (but not your primary) email account. Some free offers send a confirmation email and require you to revisit the site/click on the link before they will send the freebie.
Occasionally companies will call to confirm the telephone number before they send the sample. Although that seems to be rarer now.

Do know that if you sign up for stuff, you will be put on every mailing list known to man and some only known to albino canaries. Junk mail abounds! but you'll never have to worry about finding an envelope to write your grocery list on the back of, find some unneeded paper to start a fire, order return mailing address labels, etc. And sometimes you get coupons with the free stuff that shows up! Woo-hoo!

I don't notice if I receive them or not. If I do receive an item, it's like Christmas. If I don't get it, I'm out nothing.
