Was anybody charged twice for a purchase like me?
now I have to wait for the extra charge to fall off 3 to 5 days, watch out all they don't care who they screw here at Woot, also they are owned by amazon, I even called them no one cares I can't pay my mortgage now I am done with this place
You already posted in the other question thread about this so you really didn't need to start ANOTHER one. http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/810272e5-b4ec-4976-9766-6de37b8e1939/how-do-i-get-credit-back-to-my-credit-card-as-i-was-chargedord-36727168-twice
1. You should take care of more important things BEFORE you go on a spending spree. (I've never heard of some losing their home for being a couple of days late on a payment ONE time.)
2. Your BANK decides how long a "pending transaction" stays on your account, not WOOT.
3. If you used the same potty mouth language when you "called" them as you did in the other thread, I'm not surprised you got a less than pleasant response.
4. Since WOOT doesn't HAVE an actual customer service number...who did you really call?
Email them at service@woot.com I'm sure they'll be willing to help you out.\
Edit: Call your bank explain the situation and tell them you'll get them the money as soon as possible. I suspect they won't be that upset about the 3-5 days wait. Also in the future make sure you cover your mortgage before buying things on woot then complaining about it.
@phila1fly: Your foul language and insults are not likely to make anyone here interested in offering any assistance to you, but I'll give it a shot on the off chance that you're just upset to the max.
Do you any kind of credit card on which you can take a cash advance? It would probably be at a much higher rate than your usual rate is, but you need it only long enough to get your mortgage paid, and then you can repay the advance with the funds released by Woot.
Do you have any kind of overdraft protection on your checking account? This would be a good reason to take advantage of it, since a late-fee on a mortgage is usually exorbitant and avoided if at all possible.
As a last resort, do you have any family members or friends who can lend you the amount you need, since it's just for the few days until the hold releases?
A good lesson on using credit cards vs. debit cards... A duplicate charge on a credit card will only reduce available credit temporarily so unless a cash advance was going to happen to cover the mortgage, there wouldn't be an issue.
Was it an actual woot site or one of the other deal sites listed here? More specifics and less angry generalization would tend to get you more help.
I agree with the other post, bills get paid before other non-essential things.
@gideonfrost, @jimeezlady, and @xdavex: It's pretty cavalier to assume that he didn't budget his funds properly. What he didn't do was account for some merchant making a billing error. At my credit union I often see duplicated electronic and check card charges (some for over $500) which can easily wreck the immediate financial well-being of a lot of people. We nearly always can work with the merchant who made the error so we can release the hold immediately, but unfortunately, most large banks can't (or won't) make such efforts. I'm frankly disappointed that Woot won't contact the OP's bank to authorize them to release the hold.
Also, most financial institutions these days are not amenable to a delay in a mortgage payment, especially if the OP usually pays at the end of any grace period or if he's had delinquencies in the past.
Was you order declined first and you put the order in again? If so, Woot put an authorization on the card and that is why your bank thinks the money is gone.
And Woot is an independent subsidiary of Amazon. Amazon is the parent company but Woot still maintains day-to-day operation of the company.
Please do watch your language. Have you tried calling your credit card company to ask them to raise your limit (even temporarily) under these circumstances? Mine has been accommodating in difficult situations before.
@magic cave: True and thank you for pointing that out, but from the info provided we don't even know if this happened at all.
@kamikazeken: don't get sucked down to his/her level. remember we are good people that just want deals and a place to talk. just because someone else is having a bad day doesn't mean we have to go there too. (or as momma use to say "if ya can't say somethan nice, then shut yo mouth") even if he deserves it.
your crappy attitude makes me hope you end up homeless.
Woot won't help called the bank they need a release from woot that they won't give and I had the money until woot charged me twice.
