What are some of the wackiest fun runs you've heard of?

a coworker showed me this zombie fun run he's interested in and is trying to get others to sign up for

it's a cool concept where you have a run through the woods which includes obstacles and the zombies are hidden among the trail. if they pull your flag (like flag football) you will get a zombie trophy at the end instead of a survivor trophy.

i've also seen underwear runs where the runners wear undies. the one i saw is around valentine's day so they encourage valentine's theme undies like hearts or red and white. it was for a kids charity and ends with happy hours of course :)

a bunch of coworkers also participated in a Mud Run. i saw the pics and it looked messy but tons of fun. there is mud everywhere and you go through obstacles completely muddy

i think they're good ideas especially if the event is raising $$ for charity or it encourages people to get in shape.

Hash House Harrier fun runs. In red dresses. I just recently signed up for a local chapter, but haven't participated yet.

You don't have to be a real runner, just like beer, socializing, and running/walking outdoors a bit. Signed up after seeing an episode of Art Mann presents covering one in So Cal.

I like the idea of being given the most demeaning or crude hickname possible too...

do they choose your nickname for you?

i did a polar plunge in VA beach one year. i guess it's kinda related...
it was for a charity and you had to wear either swimwear or a costume. i dressed up as lady liberty along with my coworkers since our work supplied the getups.
some people planned all year for this as teams and they had such elaborate costumes, i was amazed at the stuff they came up with.

@holymythos: lol! i've seen that happen before. my original 5 are on the right, someone added the chat tag making six total. woot won't let you add more than 5 yourself, but that's their regular user restrictions. staff knows magic ;)

Basically an obstacle/beer/viking helmet riddled 5k!

Plus I think you get a horned viking helmet (maybe plush) for participating. It's my next 5k. I've heard they're a blast!

There's a Mud Run that my brother's done before. It involves 3k including obstacles and a lake.
I also heard about a Wellie run in Ireland, and that's done in Wellingtons (you know, the big rubber rain boots) which some friends of mine have done before.
