Who wants to join me in thanking the Woot staff?
I just want to say thank you, Woot! staff. After listening to many of us whine, call you bad names, swear off woot forever, and God knows what else, you have got it right. THIS woot off has been great! The BOC, the items, the responsiveness of the servers, just way to go! I think your dev team needs a pizza party.
5 chances at a BOC, a new monkey, and many cool new items. Thanks, woot!
I just don't understand some of the comments here. Woot! is what it is, and people should either embrace that or walk away from it. The BOC is a sales tool, nothing more.
Why this Woot-off was the best I had seen yet:
- Lots of items in relatively small quantities, helping to prevent the sales process from bogging down on one item.
- Multiple BOC events. This was BRILLIANT. Instead of waiting around for one BOC, we were waiting around for a BOC that could come at any time, which really kept the interest up.
- The event was a one day event. The one-day schedule works well with small item quantities. Can you imagine a one-day small quantity multiple BOC Woot-off starting at, say, 6 pm on a Friday?
Sorry, not done yet.
Now, it would be a stroke of evil genius on Woot's part to have simply simulated the server crash in the middle of the event, thereby shunting everyone over to deals.woot (which was still working, did you notice?) to build the interest level up. They wouldn't do that, would they?
In other news, Jeff Bezos will be burned in effigy tonight at 6 pm CDT in Williams Square in front of the mustangs. Be there. Aloha.
See? I'm an evil genius, too!
But, seriously, MANY MANY THANKS to the Woot sales staff, the techno-myrmidons, and (LEST WE FORGET) the back-office grunts that'll pick, pack and ship each and every one of the thousands of items out of that (relatively) tiny warehouse in Carrollton.
Agreed. Multiple Bags of Crap is more fun than just one. WTG Woot!
I LOVE WOOT! WOOT IS AWESOME...forget the naysayers! THANK YOU WOOT AND WOOTERS! YA'LL ARE WOOTALICIOUS (Capital letters intended as if I'm screaming from the top of the world!) GO WOOT GO!
Thank you woot!
I didn't get a chance at a BoC due to very busy days at work but thank you anyways!
I do have to compliment them actually, the fact that they spaced the bocs out throughout the day and aside from an early morning issue they didn't have the usual grinding halt issue that happens every time the fabled item is posted, kudos to their server team.
Moderator question (if anyone's awake yet):
Are BOC sales restricted to one BOC per user per sales event? Seems that way from what I saw yesterday, and if so the BOC Commandments should be updated to include that.
Edit: I suppose Commandment I sorta implies this: "I. Thou shalt expect nothing beyond ONE bag of some kind and THREE crappy items." but if true a change to this may deter already-successful buyers from hammering away at the later BOC listings.
@wootmeharder: In the four years you have been on Woot! you have managed to accumulate 600+ posts, purchase somewhere between 50-99 items and tore up a whole 26 rep points on the Deals.Woot! side. You seem to use this community to complain more then actually enjoy or post the deals. And with 600+ posts I say you are getting your fill of complaints. So just try to enjoy yourself Dr!
Oh yeah, Thanks Woot!
I would say this was one of the best woot-offs ever. The product selection was decent, even though none of it captured my interest. There were no woot-off killers that were left out there for excessively long. Spreading the BOCs out across the whole day is a fantastic idea! I hope it stays that way!
A woot-off with BOCs and Monkeys and lots of products!? Love it. Certainly made me forget about the technical difficulties!
I'd like to thank them for finally listening to the idea of splitting the BOC up into a woot off more than once! That takes away some of my ranting and raving! THANKS WOOT!
OK, so after all that, here's sadsephiroth's original Question and The Answer:
Q: Who wants to join me in thanking the Woot staff?
A: Amost all Woot users, except for those very few who can't be happy no matter what.
@3eyore: Yeah, anyone who tried got a this account has already purchased this sale... Not that I tried or anything.
I want to thank the moderators, but I want to curse out the coding monkeys that denied me my BoC yesterday
Thank you Woot! staff!
@wootmeharder: lol gtfo
Thank you woot staff. You are the best! It took me four tries to order my shirt the other day, but I thought it was funny since the shirt I was trying for was "Finally Caught it." :D
@wootmeharder: I got my first BOC on 11/9/2004 - so I've been wooting! for quite a while and feel qualified to express my opinion. I've watched woot! grow from a dot.com sapling to a well respected website. I spent many a night in grad school waiting up to 1 a.m. eastern time hoping to snag another BOC - and I did. I'm in the workforce now, so I'm glad they offer them during the woot-off. I've never been able to get a "daytime" BOC because they were always offered as I was leaving work. woot! responded to the complaints and made it more "fair." FYI - life ain't fair, but apparently woot! is :) I'm at work and don't have time to play games. I want to hit "I want one" pay my money and get on with it.
When Amazon bought them, I was very leery, even though I like Amazon and shop there often. I was afraid they would "go big time" and lose the intimacy I had become accustomed to. I still feel like woot! is my community and the staff are here for us. Thanks woot! ♥
@wootmeharder: Why change something that is working? Thousands of customers flock to the site during a woot-off, and people are buying what is being posted at the prices being posted. Most (not all) deals are actually as good or better than what you can find elsewhere on the net. Besides, I never saw a guarantee anywhere that WOOT! has the best prices on the net.
Anyways...it is a fun way to shop and I for one enjoy it...whether I get a BOC or not. The thrill of buying something for $8 knowing that I'm probably going to get exactly what I am paying for (3 crappy items and a bag), is well, fun. I usually only buy one or two things during a woot-off, but it has me all day. On top of that, deals.woot has saved me a lot of money. so.....
Thank you woot staff. (looking forward to my 3 crappy items and a bag).
good job woot workers
