"Open Thread Friday!" Also known as "This Thread For Hijack!"
I figured turn about was fair play after @tygerdave wandered off last night leaving his thread exposed to attack from the wild wimmins of deals. Besides, @tygerdave needs a convenient thread to hijack himself in his nefarious plot to climb to the top of Mount Popularity. I think he's just swell. It must be the monocle and the bushy mustache, but who knows what evil lurks in the heart of @tygerdave?
Hi, @tygerdave! :::waving::: Or should I say "HIJACK away! @tygerdave!" This thread's for you!

Ever notice what a sourpuss the second Darrin was? And more importantly, did they really thing we wouldn't notice when they swapped out Chris Partridges?
@lavikinga: or how about the convenience of re-generation when they want to change Doctor Whos
(t's Friday. I am bored. And I have another 5 months until a new Doctor Who comes out.)
Leftoverture by Kansas is AWESOME.
@lavikinga: I always liked Samantha better than Jeannie, and that EM's favorite episode had to do with racism (I think).
Is it possible to thread-jack a thread designed to be thread-jacked?
It's rather nice that the regeneration process is explicit, rather than some sort of "oh, nothing happened at all" effect.
So what funny web sites do you guys look at? I love most of the cheezburger.com sites, especially lolcats, loldogs, #LFMF (very instructional) and failbooking.
Also find notalwaysright.com funny and sad at the same time. Hard to believe that people really are that stupid. www.yousuckatcraigslist.com is another one of those sites which make you wonder about intelligence, or the lack thereof, in the general population.
Any other sites good for a laugh?
@theoneill555: never got attached to the Doctors when I was growing up, but boy, do I miss the Tenth. "Allons-y!"
@jazcat: this made me laugh last night. Watch it all the way thru. Perfect syncing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL3mHPmNKRE&feature=related
@lavikinga: sometimes you just have to jump-in and say GERONIMO!
But if you haven't seen these comedy sketches with Catherine Tate and David Tennant, you might get a giggle out of them:
Mad Men has the Partridges Beat, they have changed kids three or four times in four seasons. Hardly anyone has noticed that Don Draper's oldest son has changed that many times. I believe Sally is the only child who has remained the same.
I am going to a bachelorette party today. Had to go shopping. ;) Too bad I didn't know a month ago I could have cleaned out ohcheri's stock.
@lavikinga: Unbelievable. How did yark72 even think of doing this? I wish I was artistic. And how did you ever find it.
Ah, the internet, so many more ways to futz around all day.
@jazcat: Funny websites? Piece of cake.
http://www.circleid.com/
http://www.emergentchaos.com/
http://www.zabasearch.com/
http://www.domaintools.com/
http://www.pki-page.org/
http://www.dnsstuff.com/ (although I really miss it being FREE)
http://www.silcnet.org/
...and one of my all time favorites...
http://www.kloth.net/services/cardpunch.php
Remember, you asked.
@shrdlu: OMG, at circleid.com, the blog on New gTLDs and Their Hidden Costs: Parts 1 and 2, hilarious. I laughed so hard a bone came out of my nose (with apologies to Gary Larson).
sigh You are all hilarious! This is precisely the kind of funny talk that I can just enjoy when the day is rather stressful... I'll leave the hi-jacking attempts to people like @tygerdave, and just pop in to enjoy the ambience. :)
@arosiriak: you forgot to leave your giggle sites
@theoneill555: Thank you! She's brilliant!
@jazcat: Some one posted the link last night. I never was a L&H fan, but this, I like.
So, I am out on the golf course this morning, prepping the tees (I work grounds maintenance at the course) before the sun comes up, and out of the bushes comes this zombie, moaning and groaning and shuffling his feet. I ran to my cart to grab my trusty zombie decapitating shovel when I realized it was just my co-worker who hadn't had his coffee this morning.
Ever since the days of The Don and Mike Radio Show, this has been one of my favorite bits of Larry King out of his mind idiocy: http://gawker.com/5031481/the-long-lost-drunk-larry-king-tapes I don't think he was drunk, just tired, because Larry's a professional...look it up in the book ;)
@lavikinga: the christmas carol was on my UK version Doctor Who DVD. I am still trying to get the information out of a certain someone on how to get those.
@linkage89: Was he mumbling something about a Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole!?
@theoneill555: I will pay you in cookies if you can track that link down!
New music video by Janelle Monae. Extremely expressive. http://bit.ly/aVIe4X
@lavikinga: Ooooh - what kind of cookies?
@lavikinga: No, not really. just standard zombie "ohhhhhhhhhhh". As my trusty "How to Speak Zombie" book was shipped FSSS from Amazon and I probably won't see it for another couple of weeks, I thought it better to be safe than sorry, when I went for my shovel.
@wootfast: oh i love her....
@lavikinga: I have been trying to get the answer out of him for a week. He is a stubborn one and refuses to give up his secrets but I am working on him.
Potato Chip cookies with chocolate? Sounds so bad, it has to be good.
@jazcat: Dang, I just made my brain hurt. I'd been reading the article on the 25th anniversary of the assignment of the first name in dot org (mitre.org, another fun web site), and it made passing reference to "...joins .com and the other five..." and BEWM! My brain made a funny ermrrmr? sound, and I realized I couldn't come up with the original seven. I really had to stop and think.
I managed to scrape it out of the sinkhole that unused facts fall into, and realized that it'd be fun to ask who else can name them. I'll come back in a bit, and post the answer, but NO FAIR USING GOOGLE. Besides, google might not help with the last one. Please note: .us is not one of them, and we already know .com and .org. Just name the other five.
@theoneill555: The christmas carol? What is that? Did I miss something DW-related??
@angstangel: up above I posted a couple of links to British comedy skits with Catherine Tate (Donna) and David Tennant (the 10th)
@shrdlu: We have a friend who works for Mitre. Very funny to watch him squirm when we ask him what exactly it is he does. Never get a straight answer. I have a feeling the world's a lot more dangerous that we know.
@theoneill555: The first link made me cry I laughed so hard. But I'm such a fool for The Doctor. Fairy Tales for adults and all that.
@wootfast: Very nice.
I love the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Saw them a couple years ago at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and have been hooked ever since. http://tinyurl.com/ycmm2g8
@theoneill555: Oh, oops - I didn't expect them to put one of those sketches on the DVD! Yes, I've seen them both; I have a bit of a soft spot for Donna and Ten.
@lavikinga: The boys and I had water leaking from our eyes also but they really liked John Barrowman's (Captain Jack) Marry, Shag, or Cliff with David Tennant -
@lavikinga: David Tenant has been the best Dr of the 21st Century I think. Although I did enjoy Christopher Eccleston - although everytime I saw him in the back of my head I heard "I must do nothing by your orders. I am Norfolk!"
@hobbit: Plus, that Scottish accent of his is dead sexy. I wouldn't have minded the Doctor's accent changing with his face (but never an American accent!).
@theoneill555: Barrowman pitching for the other team. What a waste.
Any one ever seen "Never Mind the Buzzcocks"?
@lavikinga: Oh, I have! I've preferred the Friday Night Project myself (as far as DW-themed episodes go), but this was a cute bit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77Wf9w0-bwQ
That Catherine Tate!
(ETA: Oh yes, and the Scottish accent = love. Too bad Barrowman doesn't use his...)
@theoneill555: John Barrowman is great, odd, but great. He is from Portland Oregon originally I believe. I don't think us girls ever had a chance to get him to play with our team from what I read.
@angstangel: :)
@hobbit: No, John Barrowman was born in Scotland; he did grow up in the States, though (and I think kids made fun of him because of his accent, so he dropped it and started speaking American).
@angstangel: you are right. I was thinking of someone else. Although I could swear that I read somewhere that he spent a great deal of time in Oregon.
P.S. Kilt! (Not that I'm saying that only Scottish people can wear kilts or anything)
http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/10380654.html
Had to quickly google for the link, so apologies for the livejournal reference to a magazine article.
@angstangel: I once watched an interview where he switched back and forth between accents. He said when he was home with Family he used the Scottish accent. Stateside, it was more the American. I do love my Captain Jack. My kids think I am such a doofus. Who AND Torchwood. Oh, the shame of it all!
@angstangel: oh I have seen some mighty fine irishmen wear kilts....sigh....hang on
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0KZjmiL7xs
sigh, I go melty every time I see this song, and Paul was behaving during this performance.
@lavikinga: Oh, Torchwood, so sad. Have you heard anything about it starting back up again (after "Children of Earth")?
@hobbit: Ooh, very nice. :)
@angstangel: Ohyeah! Starz has picked it up. http://www.ugo.com/tv/new-episodes-of-torchwood-are-seeing-starz-in-2011
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKmschnepXg David Tennant AND Top Gear!
@lavikinga: Sweet! I wonder where they can go from series 3...
Hmm, it seems as if this thread appears to have been thoroughly hijacked, but I don't think it counts if it was your own thread... ;)
