Doesn't matter if you're interested in Blu-Ray, really. Get a blu-ray player. A lot of those do a better job of upconverting DVD's anyway, and you'll have a backup plan for the eventual demise of your PS3.

Unfortunately, I haven't used any that play video files - but the blu-ray players are sure to have more up-to-date codecs, and certainly support H.264 video.

@omnichad: As long as it plays Divx, etc... that could be a possibility...

@claudicina: DivX is a rather old format (DIVX in all caps, oddly, is a failed online rental service). I would recommend re-encoding the videos, honestly, to a modern format like H.264/AAC in an MKV or MP4 container. If this is an illegally acquired film collection, I can't really help you of course.

Interestingly, this page lists out dozens and dozens of models of Blu-ray players that support this format:

Click on one of the categories for a HUGE list!

@omnichad: I swear all of the ones listed are european models only...

@claudicina: Here's a great price, actually:

Doesn't do any fancy things other internet-connected players do like Netflix or Pandora, but it's a good solid upconverting DVD player that also plays DivX - certified up to HD DivX.

@omnichad: It is NOT an illegally obtained film library. I have a few old videos in this format, and I'd like to use them on my TV as opposed to just the computer.

Thanks for the suggestions!
