Sadly, I can only use the ringtones my mobile provider gives me.

Ringtones are so nineties. Not kidding, actually.

In a day when cellphones were still the newest toy around, everyone and their mother was going for all sorts of ringtones. Nowadays I think that ringtones are not a big item. I notice that most people have either a telephone ringing kind of ringtone, or even simpler stuff. I personally have Handel, but you would expct that. It is VERY quiet, though (you'd have to be very near me to even know it was ringing).

I also suspect that most people have a ton of music on their phone, and may not care so much about ringtones as they used to.

[Edit] Now, if we were talking about the funny guys from free credit report dot com...

@shrdlu: Those boys, they're French. Who'd a guessed?
My son, the practical joker, changed my ring tone to Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" years & years ago. Every time I upgrade to a new phone I can rest assured some how he'll do it again. It's good to be loved.

edit- that Geico ringtone is painful. Oddly catchy, but painful.
And that Freecreditreport bass player's kinda cute.

@lavikinga: I only have two ringtones on my phone I have a feeling some of you can guess which group they are from.

I would so download the free credit dot com boys too! but it would have to be available through my wireless provider.

@shrdlu: the new ringtones are snippets of songs now- more of a ring song really - which is what I have, not the tonal types, but you knew that I am sure.

@hobbit: Same here. Son says it's a Ukrainian orchestra.

Guess it's not Nirvana or Pearl Jam? Ohhhh, CW will be here on the 23rd but the ticket prices are HIGH!

another edit: Nope, they're here tomorrow night and tickets are anywhere from $44 to $265. Depends on who is selling them.

vote-for3vote-against

@lavikinga: No, not them, although downloading them would have been cheaper, hahaha. don't do CW, they are girls. Try again.

@hobbit: Let me think...are they embarrassing to admit? Backstreet Boys? Jonas Brothers? Nelson? HANSON! "MMM Bop!"

@catbertthegreat: I'm in the same position, unfortunately. I was hoping someone here knew a way to somehow make it work with my Verizon phone.

@shrdlu: I very much agree. I used to have tons of awesome ringtones back in the day, but for the last couple of years, I've alternated between the single beep and the standard telephone ring as my ringtone. Even though it's "boring", it's much less annoying than having a song for a ringtone. Inevitably, you get tired of the song a week after you set it as your ringtone, but if you're anything like me, you wait an additional 2 months from that point before you finally get around to changing it to something else.

@lavikinga: They are NOT a boyband!!! They aren't embarrassing to admit to either. They were just on CBS Early Morning and for all you QVC Shoppers they will be appearing tomorrow too. http://celticthunder.ie/

@dweitzman: Sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread.

Actually my phone is usually set on vibrate so it doesn't matter what the ringtone is. The only time the ringtone is even on, is when I am at home and if I remember to turn ON the ringer.

@dweitzman: I didn't read ANY of the instructions on the Geico site http://www.geico.com/about/commercials/music/ringtones/
So, what you're looking for a work around?

vote-for3vote-against

I downloaded the "boss's" ringtone and the intro to whatever that song they always play.

@dweitzman What kind of Verizon phone do you have? With a lot of verizon phones you can send any song to yourself as a .wav file from an email account as a picture message. You can then open the file and save it as a ringtone. That works on most of the newer phones and some will let you do the same thing with .mp3 files.

@hobbit: ummm. There was a band from my hometown called Hobbit. Pretty big deal locally for a while in the 70s. I doubt you mean that band.

Styx maybe?

EDIT.
large foot in mouth.

@jumbowoot: I already posted the link for Celtic Thunder, not that I don't listen to other music. But I like my Celtic singing group.
