Good suggestion. I also wish there was a better timestamp than the relative one they're using currently. It could even be Zulu time, or Greenwich Mean Time, or Dallas Time. I just want a timestamp.

Posted eight days ago means I have to get a calendar, and once it goes to Popular (if that happens) you lose the context of WHEN something originated.

An expiration date might be nice, but also maybe giving the poster the ability RIP his/her own deal instead of having to press the tattle button, that would be nice too.

@Catbertthegreat: I'd also like to see the ability to edit deals and questions, for the first five minutes, just like you can do with comments right now.

See? I just pressed the edit button on my comment, and now I get to add (or even change) stuff. Only lasts for five minutes, but that's longer than my attention span.

Edit would be amazing, also a delete your own deal for the first 5 minutes or so would be awesome. I added a deal the other day, and it wasnt till I submitted it that another one came up for the same deal. I went to try to delete, but alas no delete. Which my guess is makes more work for the admins.

@wigum: If yours was first why would you want to delete your deal? the other one was the duplicate. But that is what the 'tattle' button is for, even so you can just use the tattle button to say you saw you posted a deal that was a duplicate. IT doesn't count against your rep or anything. The staff take care of them when they can.

@hobbit: mine wasnt the first, it was just close timing :P But I figure it'd just make less work for the staff who probably have better things to do than clean up our oopsies

@wigum: not to put words in their keyboards or anything, but I think they take it in stride because of the way this site is structured...plus if you send them a tattle yourself I bet they appreciate it even more....I wouldn't know..I know I report my own expired deals...it just seems right to me... you know?

@shrdlu: If you hover over the "8 days ago," you'll see the date and time it was posted (in Zulu time... and, as of this posting, to the TEN MILLIONTH of a second!) in a ToolTip. Caveat: I haven't tested that in multiple browsers.

@F4vrefly: I posted about this excitely in several threads when I first noticed it. I'm hoping that they roll it out for Deals and Questions, too. Those must be structured differently, since many of the niceties we've come to take for granted (Edit buttons, for example) aren't there yet. On the other hand, Reputation hit the Deals/Questions four LONG days before it moved out to Comments.

Beggars, Choosers, that kind of thing. I await the next exciting improvement from our woot overlords.

Speaking of which: I really miss not being able to preview. Nothing like posting something to realize you've got a spelling error.

would be very helpful as I hate to 'tattle' on my own deals just to get them marked as expired.
