What is a good way to play with a Slinky?
I have a toddler at home. Someone gave him a plastic slinky as a toy a while ago, and I can't think of anything to do with it at home other than letting it "walk" down the stairs. I don't want to have my son playing on the stairs right now, so I haven't shown him the Slinky doing this yet.
Anyone know anything else fun to do with a Slinky?
You could try the palms-up hand-to-hand trick.
On an escalator.
Stacks of books, step stool, chair, upside down bowls. Think Rube Goldberg set ups.
Set it up in the hallway to show the difference between compression waves and transverse waves.
A career in engineering or seismology will await.
Put it on a treadmill, it will go forever dancing from side to side as it goes if you get the treadmill speed correct.
