I see it on the sponsored deals too. Sometimes they show up after a bit, and sometimes I've just given up.

It would appear they are not invisible but heavily time delayed. I think someone threw a chicken bone in the gears.

Not sure if this is related, but the comment count on deals/questions does increment faster than the time between posting a comment and having it appear on the site for other users to see. This is usually about a 10 second delay. However, at midnight and during times of high traffic it could take a bit longer.

@josefresno: Nope. Not the same at all. Last night the COMMENTS were not visible, and that was for periods of 15 to 30 minutes. It all straightened out after a while, but it was a bit frustrating.

There were some connectivity issues on Amazon EC2 yesterday / last night:

"A subset of instances in a single Availability Zone became unavailable due to a localized power distribution failure. We are in the process of restoring power now."

I believe this may have caused the machines to not be able to talk to each other for a brief period of time....

When in doubt, blame it on Amazon right? :)

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?

See, we do a lot of stuff with your vote, using it to work out the popularity of what you voted for, compare that to all the other things voted on, tally up our leaderboard, work out your reputation.
