Have you ever been to an indoor rock climbing gym?
I went for the first time 4 months ago and now I go 3 times a week! I also do as much outdoor climbing as the weather will allow. I am hooked! I live in Reno and they just built the worlds largest outdoor climbing wall, cant wait to climb it this summer!

I was very active in college with our club climbing twice a week at gyms in Pontiac and Ann Arbor, MI. But since I haven't seemed to find the time.
Have you gone outdoors at all? Ever go to the New River Gouge?
Yes, I climb indoors regularly. About 2-3 times a week for the past 2 years.
@jsoko: I have not. I live in Reno area and last weekend went on a trip to Death Valley to see the race track Playa (very very cool btw) and decided to make a detour through Bishop,CA on the way home(brought the crashpad and shoes just in case!) and had an epic climbing weekend. I will research the gorge and you do the same with Bishop!
edit: wow, what an amazing place! (even climbing aside) little far for a road trip though... wonder how much to fly my crashpad :)
Do you guys prefer top rope, lead climbing, bouldering?
I'm about 70/30 bouldering to top rope. I'd like to learn to lead climb soon too.
I go to an indoor climbing wall in Maine. I have an unfair advantage on the expert routes because I am tall and have a long reach.
@davidschronic: I will for sure! I don't typically use a crashpad... The nice thing about NRG is there's all types of climbing for all skills, and you can easily set up top ropes, or if you are experienced you can lead climb.
Twice a week...
@90mcg112: I used to like bouldering a lot but now not so much. I would say I'm 60/40 Top/Lead.
I have been to the Philly Rock Gym in Oaks PA many times. They are great people and a great place to climb.
@jsoko: I still predominately boulder, probably 90/10 boulder/top rope. Probably just because I don't feel comfortable so high off the ground, even with a rope. I am very interested in idea of lead climbing though. I got a harness for Christmas and have a friend who got his first rope so I guess I just have to get used to it. Still being the outdoors type, I think i will invest in some quick draws and get on some of the outdoor routes up around Lake Tahoe.
I enjoy rock climbing. I go to Rocksport in Reno Nevada? Where do you go Davidschronic?
I've been a few times to a barn that was turned into an indoor gym - called the Rock Barn. I've went to one of the tourist "indoor climbing wall" hotels once, and I saw a rotating wall at Eastern Mountain Sports but never gave it a second look. I've done some bouldering outdoors.
I did outdoor ice climbing once, yes I know it's different but it was cool just the same.
